A pair of British Colonial painted terracotta lions from the mid-20th century. This vintage pair of lions from Kerala, India have each been created in a seated position with a single front leg or paw raised atop a shield, which is decorated with a single conch shell at center. This pair of lions have textured manes, and alert facial expression with gaping mouths.
