Art Nouveau Flemish Earthenware Three Handled Vase by Leo Maes Vereenooghe

Located in Topeka, KS

Handsome Art Nouveau Flemish earthenware three handled vase with applied L.M.V mark and decorated with figures in landscape. It is in good vintage condition. One handle has been restored and there are several glaze flakes and small chips; however, it still presents very nicely. It is priced accordingly. Please see photos, circa 1890s-1910s. I fell in love with this pot immediately so snatched it up quickly. Then fell in love further after learning about its rich Flemish history. This three-handled Art Nouveau jug style vase is decorated with interesting figures and landscapes in the most beautiful blue, yellow, green, and brown polychrome glaze. It is signed by the artist, Leo Maes...

Primavera, Important Green Triple Gourd-Shaped Vase, France, circa 1930 Green Glazed Ceramic Triple Gourd-Shaped Vase By French Design House, Primavera, Atelier d’Art du Printemps, or the French department Store “Le Printemps” Stamped Primavera /16019/ Made in France Circa 1926-1929 Bibliography : “Primavera 1912-1972, Atelier d’Art du Printemps » Alain-René Hardy, Faton Edition Primavera 1912-1972: Atelier d’Art du Printemps Primavera, “Spring” in Italian, was the first French department store to set up a creative workshop at the beginning of the 20th century. The adventure began in 1912 with two Decorative Arts enthusiasts: Pierre Laguionie (1884-1978), director of “Printemps” Department Store and lawyer René Guilleré (1878-1931), founder of the Salon des Artistes Dé-corateurs. Their objective is to promote the craft of Art in the daily life of the French people on the motto of the beautiful and the useful. Decorative objects and furniture (furniture, ceramics, glassware, carpets, up-holstery, wallpapers, etc.) must be beautiful, modern, of high quality and at affordable prices. The studio acquired young decorative artists such as Marcel Guillemard (1886-1932) and Louis Sognot (1892-1969) for furniture, and for works of art and ceramics by Madeleine Sougez (1891-1945)active from 1920 to 1928, Claude Lévy (1895-1942) from 1919 to 1929, Paule Petitjean (1895-1989) de 1913 à 1929, Hélèné Gatelet de 1924 à 1930, Marcelle Thiénot...

A Rustic European 18th century French faience fountain with spigot

A Rustic European 18th century French faience fountain with spigot

Located in Leesburg, VA

Anonymous Mid-18th century; probably Moustiers or Nevers, France Faience and brass Approximate size: 12.25 (h) x 9 (w) x 6.25 (d) inches The present dispenser was either used as a water or wine cooler or possibly for washing hands. The original lid is lost-to-time, yet its provincial beauty remains attractive and sublime. The present example—baked with white enamel and decorated with a lovely hand-painted polychrome lattice and floral theme—is warm, elegant and rustic. The curving linear form of the flowers subtly recall the influence of Japan’s Kakiemon style present in France during the Rococo period yet is still indebted to the earlier influence of Italy’s prolific maiolica workshops. This fountain would serve as an elegant addition for display on an oak or distressed wood console table...

Pair of 19th Century French Hand Painted Faience Vases Stamped Lille 1767

Located in Dallas, TX

This elegant pair of antique French faience vases was crafted in Lille circa 1850 and reflects the romantic revival of northern France’s celebrated ceramic tradition. Each vessel features a softly waisted baluster form with a gently flared rim and rounded shoulder, raised on a green-glazed circular foot. At 11 inches high, their proportions are more consistent with decorative vases than cachepots, giving them a graceful vertical presence ideal for display. The bodies are richly hand-painted with continuous pastoral and maritime scenes, including fishermen along the shoreline, figures gathered near rustic architecture, and sailing vessels moving across tranquil waters. The landscapes are rendered in soft, atmospheric tones with delicate perspective and careful brushwork, framed by scattered floral bouquets and a warm yellow band beneath the rim adorned with stylized roses and leafy garlands. The painterly treatment and romantic subject matter are characteristic of mid-19th century French revival faience. The glossy tin-glazed surface exhibits fine, even craquelure throughout, consistent with 19th century production. The undersides bear a laurel wreath mark reading “Lille 1767...
