A rare and highly important set of four Royal sterling silver Georgian, pillow shaped lidded entree serving dishes, by Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert, London, 1792. Engraved with the Order of the Garter. The Order of the Garter is the highest British order of chivalry, limited to the Monarch (Sovereign of the Garter), the Prince of Wales, and 24 Knights. The dishes are engraved both on the lids and the inside with the royal badge with a coronet engraved with the legend in Latin; "Honi Soit Que Mal Y Pense" (Shamed to be the one who thinks evil of it). The pillow shaped dishes below lids with oval ribbed and acanthus leaf decorated handles, the edges of the bases having gadrooned borders. The lids and bases are fully hallmarked with the date letter for 1792, the panther's head for London and the maker's marks for Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert. This highly important set of four serving dishes are in excellent condition, they came from a royal household and a ready to grace your table or treasured silver display case...

18th-century Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Flower Basket & Butterfly Dish This Chinese export porcelain dish, circa 1765, is painted in famille rose enamels with a wicker flower basket at the center, filled with peaches, a striped melon, and a profusion of pink, purple, and lilac blossoms spilling over the sides. A large butterfly with iron-red and gilt-speckled wings hovers above it, and three further sprays of flowers and fruit are set around the remaining sides of the well. A gilt chain band encircles the well. The broad rim carries four cartouches of flowers and fruit within iron-red and gilt rococo scroll...

The raised border is embellished with an impressive bright cut engraved crest of an arm in armour embowed, holding in the hand a scythe in bend Dexter. Each antique plate is ornamented with a fine and impressive gadroon decorated border to the rim. The circular well of each plate is plain and unembellished. The underside of each plate retains the silversmith’s centre punch mark. These exceptional Georgian plates were crafted by one of the most famous and revered London silversmiths Paul Storr. The surface of each plate has a fine color and patination. Patination or patina is a subtle coloration or tarnish which forms on the surface of some metals, produced by oxidation or other chemical processes.
