Customizable Tacchini Julep Island by Jonas Wagell

By Jonas Wagell Design & Architecture, Tacchini

Located in New York, NY

Soft, enveloping shapes characterize this family of upholstered pieces. Julep is influenced by the 1950s Avant Garde movement, drawing upon its simplicity and grandeur, refined by a contemporary, romantic, feminine allure. Star of the series is the sofa, whose generous rounded lines provided evolutionary DNA for the entire collection - including an armchair, a chaise-longue and an ottoman - in an interplay of proportions and shapes that gave rise, little by little, to all the other versions. Fully upholstered, the seats look ample and full, yet convey a sense of lightness, thanks to the recessed base that invisibly lifts them off the floor. Designed...

Sculptural Chaise Lounge by Lorenzo Capanna, Made of Birch Plywood
Sculptural Chaise Lounge by Lorenzo Capanna, Made of Birch Plywood

Sculptural Chaise Lounge by Lorenzo Capanna, Made of Birch Plywood

Located in Montesilvano, IT

**Sculptural Chaise Lounge — A One-of-a-Kind Piece of Parametric Design** This chaise lounge is a one-of-a-kind piece of sculptural design, conceived at the intersection of architecture, parametric design, and craftsmanship. The form emerges from the rhythmic succession of numerous birch plywood profiles, each individually shaped and arranged in a precise geometric sequence. Each element contributes to the overall curve, creating a continuous, dynamic volume that appears different depending on the viewer's perspective. The fluid silhouette is designed to cradle the body while, at the same time, transforming the chair into a truly sculptural presence within the space. The structure is not concealed: the laminated edges of the plywood are deliberately left exposed, becoming an integral part of the object’s aesthetic and revealing its construction process. The result is a balance between function and sculpture, where the logic of construction becomes a formal language in its own right. Designed and created as a one-of-a-kind piece by architect and designer Lorenzo Capanna...

Chaise Longue Outdoor Indoor Sculpture Mirror Steel Metal Spheres Design Italy

By Barberini & Gunnell

Located in Ancona, Marche

The sculptural chaise longue 'Golem' is an imposing sculpture, made up of hollow stainless steel spheres, welded one by one by hand and mirror polished. A sinuous top cuts the group of spheres creating the chaise longue, on which you can lie down. The set of spheres creates distorted and fascinating reflections. The sculpture can also be positioned outdoors, giving its best when it reflects the sky and the surrounding greenery. The "Golem" Chaise Longue was chosen for the set of "The Devil Wears Prada 2", together with the "Alpemare" Chair and "Cascata" Side Table, two other iconic pieces from our collection. Dimensions: L 210 x W 113 x H 77 cm. Limited Edition of 6. Each sculptural chaise longue is hand signed and numbered by the artists (engraved). 100% handmade in Italy, comes with a “Certificate of Authenticity”. This sculpture takes shape from the ancient legend, a mass of shapeless steel, like a mountain capable of transmitting stillness but also a deep sense of respect, because now it seems to be docile, dormant, at the service of man, but beware, we do not know for how long. Raw material, formless, existence that precedes the essence. Steel melts, roaring bangs, joins violent piece on piece, sphere on sphere; unformed aggregate of cold steel material, disquieting monster. Imperfection leads to transformation, slowly forms, shines and silently begins to live. What was created was the first spirit and idea of man who is now reflected on his polished steel, the dark monster that, observing it, will see the reflection of his evil soul. Amorphous material devoid of soul, devoid of emotions, of life. The chaise longue golem was published in the Interior Design New York magazine in October 2017. 'Golem' was shown at the following art fairs: -The Salon Art + Design, New York, 2018 -ArtMiami, Miami, 2018 -Pad Monaco, Monte Carlo, 2019 -Pieruga Art exhibition, 2019 - Alpemare, Bocelli's family Beach...

Vladimir Kagan Post Modern Scallop Chaise Lounge in Soft Ivory White Bouclé

By Vladimir Kagan, Directional

Located in Saint Louis, MO

All enveloping luxurious comfort best describes this sexy Post Modern Chaise Lounge designed by Vladimir Kagan for Directional newly professionally upholstered in highly durable super soft ivory white bouclé. Famous for his use of curves and amorphous shapes in furnishings, this Vladimir Kagan scallop form chaise lounge has an inviting profile and shape that beckons. The inner walls of the chaise provide all enveloping comfort with wide upholstered channels angled down towards the foot of the chaise. The channels - along with the texture of the ivory white bouclé - ventilate naturally keeping you cozy in winter and cool in summer. Unlike traditional chaise lounges that allow one to recline but are not typically plush, this Vladimir Kagan chaise is the antithesis. Super comfortable seat back, tall upholstered arm rests, thick cushioned seat, and angled upholstered side. Chic, sexy and luxurious. Works for all activities - naughty or nice - at all hours of the day. Enjoy your morning cup of tea or coffee while catching up on emails or reading the latest headlines. Take an afternoon nap. Cozy up with a good book and a glass of wine, phone a friend and catch up or work on your laptop. Activities will be enjoyed all the more reclined atop this Vladimir Kagan Scallop Chaise Lounge...

Vintage, New and Antique Chaise Longues

Sit back, relax and get all of the ergonomic support you could ever need by introducing an alluring antique or vintage chaise longue in your living room or by your outdoor fire pit.

The chaise longue is an upholstered piece of furniture that was made popular in France in the early 16th century. This low reclining seat — a “long chair” in English — boasts an elongated form and low back that extends about half the length of the furnishing, affording the welcome opportunity for a sitter to put their feet up and relax. A comfortable common ground between sofas and daybeds, early iterations of chaise longues were discovered in Ancient Egypt and were later frequently used in both Greece and Rome.

In the late 1700s, the first chaise longues were imported to America, and English speakers have struggled with the name ever since. (In the United States, the term is frequently spelled “chaise lounge.”) So, how do you pronounce chaise longue? It sounds like “shayz lawng,” but limiting it to shayz is perfectly acceptable in the States.

Antique Victorian chaise longues and 19th-century chaise longues bring luxury and perhaps extravagance to your living space while mid-century modern chaise longues, designed by the likes of Adrian Pearsall, Vladimir Kagan or Milo Baughman, can alter an interior with dazzling geometric contours and richly varied textures.

On 1stDibs, find many kinds of chaise longues for your home — from sculptural works by Charlotte Perriand to plush and velvety Louis XVI pieces to minimalist contemporary versions to suit your understated decor.
