Robert Bushong Silkscreen Wall Scroll Chanticleer for Tom Tru Raymor MCM

Located in Topeka, KS

Wonderful Mid-Century Modern silkscreen wall scroll titled Chanticleer by Robert R. Bushong for Tom Tru and distributed by Raymor. It is in fantastic vintage condition and circa 1959. I’ve recently become attracted to roosters and chickens in general, and these regal characters are really great! This wall-hanging is depicted in the Tom Tru Spring wall scroll catalog for 1959. Attributed to Robert R. Bushong, although the signature on this one is missing the G. Since the signature is so close to the edge we believe the G just did not make it into the screen printing process. This example is what was advertised in the catalog as: powder, royal, sage, brown on black texture. Otherwise known as powder blue, royal blue, sage green, and brown. Its solid walnut top and bottom mouldings are just beautiful as are these fantastic chanticleer, the name for roosters especially in fairy tales. Robert Bushong...

Framed Vintage Traditional Danish Needlepoint Textile Art
Framed Vintage Traditional Danish Needlepoint Textile Art

Framed Vintage Traditional Danish Needlepoint Textile Art

Located in Chattanooga, TN

Traditional “Danmark” needlepoint featuring elements of Danish heritage. The four layer strata depicts two Danish flags, agricultural and musical iconography. The last layer pays tribute to Danish geography. Beneath this rendering of clouds, mountains and grasses is what seems to be a word written in Danish. The needlepoint is beautifully presented in an ornate gold frame with a panel of acrylic protecting the art. A striking mid-century Danish textile tableau whose layered needlepoint composition evokes national pride and sweeping Scandinavian imagery. Executed in the 1970s in Denmark, this rare example of embroidered wall art presents four distinct layers of hand-stitched needlepoint: two subtle renditions of the Danish flag (“Danmark”), agricultural and musical iconography, and, in the deepest register, a poetic representation of Danish geography — soft mountains, gentle clouds, and rolling grass. The lower register bears a hand-inscribed Danish word (now subtly rendered into the layering), adding the aura of a once-personal commission. The piece is mounted under clear acrylic and beautifully set within a gilded decorative frame, enhancing its presence and ready for immediate display. Designed for the collector of fine textile art...

Seggiaro is part of the textile field in an unconventional way, from a non-technical but expressive approach. In exchange, he obtains freedom of action from the needle that allows him to tie, knot, leave half-sewn stitches, and generate volume through the thread. In this way, she makes use of non-traditional uses of embroidery that respond to a more plastic than textile thought. Seggiaro's reinterprets european artistic traditions, infusing them with her own embroidered mark, drawing inspiration from classic prints by masters such as Albrecht Dürer, Giovanni Battista Piranesi and Bernhard Albinus. Her creative process is both meticulous and layered: she begins by researching historical images, which she then digitally reconfigures into intricate collages that form the basis of each piece. The final compositions are printed onto artistic canvases, where they are enriched with delicate hand embroidery and, more recently, vibrant paintings. This interplay of traditional and contemporary techniques reflects her dynamic artistic evolution: from a pictorial base to a greater use of diverse materials and media, allowing her to create visually appealing and deeply evocative works, focusing on themes such as authorial resignification, the body as cartography, intimacy and imagined landscapes. Published Large Nazca Wari Textile Panel with Geometrical Design Framed

Located in Atlanta, GA

A large Nazca-Wari woven textile panel known as Llika or Awayo (shawl) from Ica Valley on the south coast of nowadays Peru. Professionally mounted and conversed on a linen-backed wood frame and presented in an acrylic shadow box. Shawls with this step design were identified as made from the period of 700 to 1100 AD during the transitional period when Nazca went under the expanded rule of the Wari empire. The textile was finely woven from a camelid fiber dyed with natural pigments. The work strikes the viewer immediately with its unexpected modernity. The simple, bold and repetitive geometry with the scintillating color blocks created a lyrical visual rhythm and could easily mistake it as an abstract art from the 20th century. The step design was one of the unusual abstract motifs used by the pre-Columbian weavers from Nazca, who created some of the most mysterious and soul-stirring work with a minimalism aesthetic that was rarely seen in any other ancient textile art. Considering that the artists were completely isolated without the influences of other cultures, their intrinsic creativity and artistic vision are even more impressive. Provenance: From the collection of Lee M...
