Dazzling pair of museum quality Herring/ Chandelier earrings (collector's item), with electric foiled Emeralds. Inlaid with rose-cut and table-cut diamonds. Superbly preserved, dating from the late 18th century (1780). A set of sparkling flat rose-cut diamonds decorates each earring along with sixteen vibrant step-cut green emeralds. They range in value from 0.15ct (6 emeralds) to 1.20ct (8 emeralds), and total approximately 10ct in both. The galleries have ornate detailing and are fitted with three droppers at the bottom with a hinge in the center to allow them to swing and dance freely. The earrings preserve its original clip hooks and are divided into three bodies, the upper one can be separated and worn independently. Size: Height 80mm (78mm inc. hooks) x Width 23mm x Depth 5.5mm. Amazing Georgian paste earrings in the most extraordinary shade of lime green from the early 19th Century. Set in a scalloped 14k gold setting around each stone. Georgian earrings of this quality, scale and color are so incredibly rare. The faceting is exquisite. This pair unfortunately is not perfect. There is a little sliver of glass missing from the top point edge of one of the ear pendants. It is not very noticeable when worn but is visible when closely examined. There is also a chip on oval stone of same earring. The surreal color of the lime green glass paste probably has much to do with the minerals used its manufacture. These are minerals which are obviously no longer used so this color is not replicable. The original fittings have been changed to clips later on.
