Nude Bronze Figurative Sculpture Ballet Dancer by Benson Landes 'Quiet Elegance'
Located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire
'Quiet Elegance' is a beautiful nude bronze sculpture of ballet dancer by the renowned sculptor Benson Landes. For Benson Landes, sculpture was most definitely a passion. His oeuvre of cast bronzes is populated with ‘off duty’ ballet dancers, rather wistful women, often caught in moments of solitary repose. Such an obvious appreciation of the grace and elegance of the female form was, no doubt, heightened by 25 years spent in the couture business, which Benson entered at the age of 14. The sculptor admitted that his time as an apprentice at his father’s clothing workroom and factory was given rather reluctantly, as he always harbored desires to become an artist. The young boy’s sense of responsibility was clearly equal to his creativity, though, as Benson knuckled down...

Solid Bronze Nude Figure Sculpture 'Home Alone' by Benson Landes
Located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire
'Home Alone' by Benson Landes is a Solid Bronze Sculpture of a Nude Figure. Benson Landes sculpted dancers, as he loved their elegance - this passion is communicated to the viewer perfectly in this incredible sculpture. The young boy’s sense of responsibility was clearly equal to his creativity, though, as Benson knuckled down and learned the family trade. At the age of 18, however, a 2 year conscription to the RAF provided one of the few opportunities for Benson to experience artistic freedom. The possibilities of otherwise unobtainable materials such as pastels, paper, perspex and plaster of paris fuelled his ingenuity at the base’s well-stocked workshop. On completion of his RAF service, Benson briefly returned to the clothing factory now owned by his father. After his marriage to Ruth at 21, in an effort to provide for his new wife, Benson decided to set up his own business. Starting with a single sewing machine and tailoress, Benson and Ruth soon expanded the business. By the 1970s they employed over 50 staff and supplied to prestigious stores such as Dickens & Jones and Harrods. As the decade progressed, however, fashion turned towards less structured, more casual garments; a trend that prompted Benson to retire and spend time with his first love, sculpture. Buoyed by the liberty he enjoyed in his studio, Benson succeeded in selling some of his first pieces of sculpture, a collection of sporting trophies shown at the 1981 Open Golf Championship, to Garrards, the Crown Jewellers. This success quickly brought important contacts and new commissions. Benson always maintained that being able to work as a sculptor is a unique privilege. Usually in the company of a model, he often worked in the studio against the soothing background of classical music. Indeed, now eminently collectable, Benson’s work provided much comfort after the death of Ruth. Benson said that the things that mattered in life are those of beauty; he truly believed that romance and elegance are necessary shields to what he saw as the sometimes too hurried manner of life today. Benson sadly passed away in the autumn of 2013. Solid Bronze Nude Figure...

Olympiad. A bronze sculpture of a resting ballet dancer figure by Benson Landes
Located in Shrewsbury, Shropshire
'Olympiad' is a solid bronze figurative sculpture of a resting ballet dancer by Benson Landes. The figure is so refined and delicate, a perfectly judged sculpture. Benson's theme is predominately the wonderful world of ballet and dancers, although some are beautiful ladies in quiet repose and elegance. Such an obvious appreciation of the grace and elegance of the female form was, no doubt, heightened by a lifetime spent in the couture business, which Benson entered at the age of 14. NICK KNIGHT (*1958, Great Britain) Porcelain Kate 2013 Nymphenburger hard porcelain in white bisque Sculpture 36,6 x 61 x 15 cm (14 3/8 x 24 x 5 7/8 in.) Edition of 25; Ed. no. 6/25 Nick Knight is among the world’s most influential and visionary photographers. He has worked on a range of often controversial issues during his career – from racism, disability, ageism, and more recently fat-ism. He continually challenges conventional ideals of beauty. The photographer Nick Knight has been portraying international supermodel Kate Moss for more than two decades. As one of the most photographed women in the world who has been accompanied by Knight for many years, Moss serves as the subject of his work. In cooperation with the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, the world famous photographer has eternalised a three-dimensional portrait of the Briton in biscuit porcelain for the first time. The figurine developed in the master workshops of Nymphenburg in 2014 is reminiscent of Christian iconography. Attributes such as the filigree crown of thorns and the voluminous loincloth make reference to religious relics...

Angel Hamael (Angel of Dignity)
Located in Chicago, IL
Angel of Dignity. Hamael encourages us to persist and be practical. Bronze Monaco 2012 Unique Piece 29.1 x 7.5 x 13.4 inches ARTIST STATEMENT: "The beauty, grace and symmetry of traditional figurative sculpture has always called to me. It is my school and my obsession. My language is the figure and I feel the need to comment on the human condition, sometimes distorted by demons, and other times enchanted by all that is pure within us. I have renewed my relationship to the human form. It has undergone a metamorphosis from silent conformity, where the rules and proportions are tantamount to a partial figure where the human condition becomes of primary importance. I want to stretch the canons of classical realism by giving beauty another voice that challenges socio-political norms. I speak of spirit and courage, of heritage and of imperishable strength. Today I challenge the traditional figure, creating a characterization of the Spirit; a metaphor to our inner world that might encourage us to seek a deeper understanding of ourselves. Consciousness, as a philosophical concept, can lead us many places, from the empirical world of the cognitive sciences to a theoretical one, where psychology attempts to provide the answers. It is my intention to reach into the 21st. century using sculpture to transcend disciplinary boundaries between the physical bodies in bronze and the self-knowledge and understanding of the ethereal realm that is our internal landscape." ~ Blake Ward...

"La Cothurne" 1901 Gilt Bronze Approx 21.5" High (to raised hand) Signed and Dated Foundry Mark "Susse Freres" Originally modeled in white biscuit porcelain this Greek dancer is a from a set of eight created for a dining table. They were immediately successful when they were exhibited in the Sevres pavilion at the 1900 Exhibition. Individual figures could be ordered and "La Cothurne" proved the most popular. Their success led to the firm of Susse buying the right to cast versions in metal. Agathon Leonard (1841-1923) is one of the well-known French Art Nouveau sculptors. Born in Lille in 1841, he first studied there before moving to Paris where he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts under Eugene Delaplanche. He gained recognition at the annual Expositiones Universelles, winning a Silver Medal there in 1889 and gold in 1900. His most important piece, Jeu L'echarpe, was the best known series of Sevres production at the turn of the century and sold out at the 1900 Expo in Paris and later was given as a gift by the French Gov't to Nicholas II at the Hermitage. His bronzes were cast at the Susse Freres Editeurs Foundry. He worked also in marble, quartz and ivory. He also produced Art Nouveau medallions...

Large Bronze Sculpture - Tai Ji (Tai Chi) by noted Chinese artist Xie Ai Ge
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Xie Ai Ge (b.1977) is one of the more prominent Chinese sculptors in the international art world working in bronze and synthetic materials. She graduated from the Shanghai Fine Arts College, and received recognition by art critics as a promising young sculptor in a national exhibition in China in 2005. She went on to exhibit in Germany (Kunstmuseum) where she received more international exposure. The artist has since exhibited globally in Asia, Europe and the US, where her works are part of many prestigious collections. The breadth and depth of Xie Ai Ge's work is a testament to her technical virtuosity, productivity, and artistic imagination, and she is considered to be not just a leading young sculptor of her generation in China but one of the significantly successful Chinese artists on an international level. This particular series are in many private collections worldwide, and has also been commissioned (in a special life size sculpture of Tai Chi) and prominently displayed at the beautiful Park Hyatt, Shanghai.
