Extra Large Crucifix with Hand Carved Oak Corpus of Christ for Church or Chapel
Located in Lisse, NL
Beautifully carved and large size corpus of Jesus, made in the Arts & Crafts era. This meaningful and unique crucifix from the early 1900s comes with a larger than life, hand carved oak Corpus of Christ. The details in the anatomy of this Christ are very well carved and they clearly reveal the suffering and dehydration that His body endured in the final days of his life. The artist/sculptor is clearly showing us the image of Jesus when or right after he bowed his head and died. The solid oak cross is original to this corpus and it was given a different color so that the unique and impressive corpus stands out perfectly. Have you also noticed the perfectly carved and thick crown of thorns on the head of Christ. The patina of this excellent condition and large corpus is another great feature that will never fail to impress. The former owners gave us the photo that you see in image 3 in this listing and in it you can see where this antique corpus...

Marble Vase Decorative Sculpture White Arabescato Marble Handmade Italy
Located in Ancona, Marche
Important sculptural vase carved by hand from a solid block of Arabescato marble. Vase dimension: D 52 x H 45 cm. Available in different marble, onyx and quartzite. Limited edition of 35. Each vase is hand signed and numbered by the artists (engraved), 100% handmade in Italy and comes with a “Certificate of Authenticity”. Marble is a natural material, every piece is unique as each marble block is different in veins and color shades. All of our creations are handmade by Italian artisans and can slightly vary in shape and size. This is to be considered as a guarantee of a handmade object. All Pieruga objects are made of precious and natural marbles and onyx. Marble is sensitive to acid-based liquids, especially a prolonged contact with substances such as wine, lemon, vinegar, fruit juices, cola and alcohol can stain the surface. Cleaning should be carried out with a soft sponge, water and neutral detergent. Do not use metallic or abrasive sponges, do not wash in the dishwasher, do not use in the microwave. The color of the marble after washing can undergo variations due to the humidity trapped in the surface’s micro-pores. Once fully dried it will regain its original color. The brass inlays tend to oxidize over time, to make them return to shine again use a soft cotton pad soaked in a solution of water and traditional Marseille soap, gently rub over the brass inserts and rinse the surface thoroughly. We are against the use of chemical products, all Pieruga objects are processed and polished through long manual processes without the use of polishing liquids. Pieruga proudly creates elegant accessories and complements in marble through artisanal processes, bringing into dialogue ancient techniques of sculpture with advanced technologies. 100% handmade in Italy. Our Mission is a clear Signal of opposition to the enormous waste that occurs in the extraction and processing of large blocks of marble, tons of material are discarded and thrown, in disfigurement to the generosity of our mountains. Rediscovering the ancient art of manual sculpture we give new life to even the smallest fragment of marble, bringing to light its millenary beauty that is lost in more than 2000 years of architecture and sculpture. Pieruga Marble...

Orchies Ceramics Factory Pair Of French Art Deco Ceramic Vases
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly invite you to read the entire description, as we provide detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our objects. These stunning vases display clear Art Deco influences, evident in the geometric lines and squared, decorative handles adorned with elegant gilding. The tapered, symmetrical shape is typical of the 1920s and 1930s when Art Deco was at its peak. The predominant color is a deep cobalt blue, characteristic of high-quality ceramic production from that era, associated with a refined decorative style. The gilded handles create a striking and luxurious visual contrast with the rest of the design. The geometric gilded handles, distinctive in their elegance, reflect neoclassical influences reinterpreted through the lens of Art Deco. The decorative details on the handles were applied by hand, a hallmark of fine ceramic craftsmanship. The ceramic used is glazed earthenware. The glossy finish suggests the use of vitreous glazes, applied to achieve a shiny, even surface. The gilding on the handles may have been done using the ceramic lustre technique, where gold is applied at a low temperature after an initial firing, resulting in a durable, shiny finish. The vases date to the period between 1925 and 1930, as indicated by the stamps on the bottom. The Orchies pottery factory was one of the leading French manufacturers specializing in ceramics, located in Orchies, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. Founded in 1886 by Désiré Leroy, the company quickly gained a reputation for the quality of its products and its distinctive trademark, often featuring the silhouette of a windmill, a typical symbol of that region of France. Initially focused on decorative ceramics and household items, the factory later expanded by merging with other local manufacturers, broadening its range of products. A key figure in the company's growth was Jules Auguste Hamin, who helped drive its expansion and brand development. Orchies products were renowned for their craftsmanship and the high quality of materials used. The ceramics were produced using a variety of techniques, including terracotta and glazed stoneware. Orchies excelled in the creation of decorative vases, tableware, pitchers, and other ornamental objects. Bright colors and glossy finishes were characteristic of many of their works, which blended elements of local tradition with Art Nouveau influences. During its golden age, Orchies not only dominated the French market but also exported its ceramics to several European countries and beyond. Its quality craftsmanship and refined design made its products highly valued by both the general public and collectors of art ceramics. The Orchies factory played a major role in the French ceramic industry from the late 19th to the early 20th century, contributing significantly to the development of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais ceramic tradition. However, like many factories of the time, Orchies faced increasing industrial competition and the economic crises of the 20th century, ultimately ceasing operations in the mid-1900s. Today, Orchies ceramics are highly sought after by collectors for their beauty and rarity. The windmill silhouette, imprinted on many of their pieces, remains a distinctive mark of quality and elegance. This pair of vases is a beautiful example of French Art Deco ceramics...

Antique and Vintage Decorative Objects for Sale: Find Vases, Bowls, Boxes and Clocks on 1stDibs

Every time you move into a house or an apartment — or endeavor to refresh the home you’ve lived in for years — life for that space begins anew. The right home accent, be it the simple placement of a decorative bowl on a shelf or a ceramic vase for fresh flowers, can transform an area from drab to spectacular. But with so many materials and items to choose from, it’s easy to get lost in the process. The key to styling with antique and vintage decorative objects is to work toward making a happy home that best reflects your personal style.

Ceramics are a versatile addition to any home. If you’ve amassed an assortment of functional pottery over the years, think of your mugs and salad bowls as decorative objects, ideal for displaying in a glass cabinet. Vintage ceramic serveware can pop along white open shelving in your dining area, while large stoneware pitchers paired with woven baskets or quilts in an open cupboard can introduce a rustic farmhouse-style element to your den.

Translucent decorative boxes or bowls made of an acrylic plastic called Lucite — a game changer in furniture that’s easy to clean and lasts long — are modern accents that are neutral enough to dress up a coffee table or desktop without cluttering it. If you’re showcasing pieces from the past, a vintage jewelry box for displaying your treasures can spark conversation: Where is the jewelry box from? Is there a story behind it?

Abstract sculptures or an antique vessel for your home library can draw attention to your book collection and add narrative charm to the most appropriate of corners. There’s more than one way to style your bookcases, and decorative objects add a provocative dynamic. “I love magnifying glasses,” says Alex Assouline, global vice president of luxury publisher Assouline, of adding one’s cherished objects to a home library. “They are both useful and decorative. Objects really elevate libraries and can also make them more personal.”

To help with personalizing your space and truly making it your own, find an extraordinary collection of decorative objects on 1stDibs.
