Richard Teschner for Loetz Merman Glass Jug c1906, Uranium Glass Elements
By Johann Lötz Witwe, Richard Teschner
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Striking Art Nouveau jug was designed by Richard Teschner in 1906 for Lötz Witwe, Klostermühle. It was made in mould-blown technique in opal or alabaster white glass with uranium green glass applications. Comb and long moustache are green, and eyes and pupils are made of yellow and red glass. The jug can be identified by multiple veritable online and printed resources; it was manufactured in clear and opal glass with both uranium green and clear green applications; some resources have the opal one listed as model no. 4506, but we haven't seen any mentions of uranium glass anywhere, making this piece rather rare and unusual. This piece will work very well in any style of interior or would make a great gift for an art and design enthusiast. The jug is in good antique condition with light, age-appropriate signs on wear on the bottom. Both sides of moustache have sharp ends; upon close examination of pictures of Merman jugs that were listed as "in perfect condition" and had the same sharp ends, we came to a conclusion that the sharp ends must be created as a part of manufacturing process during the application of long, thin strands of stretched glass...

Signed Kinkozan 金光山 From our Japanese collection, we are delighted to offer this Japanese Satsuma Vase by Kinkozan. The vase is potted in globular form with a tightly pinched neck and rolled top rim beautifully decorated with four highly detailed individual panelled scenes. The first a Geisha baring a gilt basket with her child playing with a fan infant of a gilt fence encompassing blossoming foliage and bamboo plants. The second scene depicts two birds, a Red Headed Japanese Wood Pigeon and a white dove in the foreground with a similar gilt fence with blossoming kiku flowers (chrysanthemums). The third scene is painted as a bustling village community with multiple figures going about their daily jobs, a central Palanquins can be seen with two figures carrying a seating figure. Antique and Vintage Decorative Objects for Sale: Find Vases, Bowls, Boxes and Clocks on 1stDibs

Every time you move into a house or an apartment — or endeavor to refresh the home you’ve lived in for years — life for that space begins anew. The right home accent, be it the simple placement of a decorative bowl on a shelf or a ceramic vase for fresh flowers, can transform an area from drab to spectacular. But with so many materials and items to choose from, it’s easy to get lost in the process. The key to styling with antique and vintage decorative objects is to work toward making a happy home that best reflects your personal style.

Ceramics are a versatile addition to any home. If you’ve amassed an assortment of functional pottery over the years, think of your mugs and salad bowls as decorative objects, ideal for displaying in a glass cabinet. Vintage ceramic serveware can pop along white open shelving in your dining area, while large stoneware pitchers paired with woven baskets or quilts in an open cupboard can introduce a rustic farmhouse-style element to your den.

Translucent decorative boxes or bowls made of an acrylic plastic called Lucite — a game changer in furniture that’s easy to clean and lasts long — are modern accents that are neutral enough to dress up a coffee table or desktop without cluttering it. If you’re showcasing pieces from the past, a vintage jewelry box for displaying your treasures can spark conversation: Where is the jewelry box from? Is there a story behind it?

Abstract sculptures or an antique vessel for your home library can draw attention to your book collection and add narrative charm to the most appropriate of corners. There’s more than one way to style your bookcases, and decorative objects add a provocative dynamic. “I love magnifying glasses,” says Alex Assouline, global vice president of luxury publisher Assouline, of adding one’s cherished objects to a home library. “They are both useful and decorative. Objects really elevate libraries and can also make them more personal.”

To help with personalizing your space and truly making it your own, find an extraordinary collection of decorative objects on 1stDibs.
