A beautiful colorful art deco box, created at the 33 East Kinney Street, in Newark New Jersey by the Wordley Allsopp & Bliss Company, back in the 1930. This rectangular box was carefully crafted in solid sterling silver .925/.999 with accents in 14 karats yellow gold. The complete outer parts are embellished with geometric patterns made up in green malachite and black lacquer. The inside are finished with high polish and gilding.
Weight: 82.95 Grams, (53.17 Dwt).
Measurements: 75 mm by 58 mm by 22 mm (2.95 x 2.28 x 0.87 Inches).

A sublime Burmese carved, lacquered and gilt hardwood crowned Buddha seated in a "western pose", early to mid 20th century, Burma (Myanmar).
The elegant and graceful Buddha is portrayed wearing an elaborate six pointed crown with two large "wings" to the side, and a simple robe wrapped around the body and draped over one shoulder. He is seated upon a high stepped throne, his feet resting upon a double lotus pedestal.
The Buddha's face is serene. He stares out in the distance calmly, with eyes slightly downcast, and a slight smile on his face. His long, pendulous earlobes blend in with the wings of the elaborate crown upon his head. A lotus bud finial would originally have surmounted the head, but is now missing. He holds one hand in his lap, palm up in a meditative gesture. His other hand rests gently on his knee.

Japanese Lacquer Rhino Sculpture by Someya Satoshi (1983-). A hand-molded lacquer sculpture that depicts a fantasy beast "Rhino". The artist uses century-old traditional techniques and symbols but with an innovative contemporary energy that borders mysticism, shamanism and surrealism. Found objects were equally treated as part of the meticulous designs as the elaborate Maki-e and shell inlays.
According to the press of Honolulu Museum of Art: "Someya Satoshi has been described as “one of the most significant contemporary lacquer artists working in Japan today.” (Japan Times, 12 Dec. 2013) His work combines objects of daily use, such as bathing buckets, serving trays, and soup bowls, with a wide array of natural materials, including animal bones, horns and antlers, sand, stones, leaves and branches. In the process, he implements a range of traditional lacquer methods passed down from pre-modern eras, such as the kanshitsu or “dry lacquer” technique, the origins of which date to Japan’s Nara period (710–784). After creating his forms, he embellishes them with designs inspired by calligraphy, traditional Japanese textile patterns, and even contemporary manga or comic books.
