Large Chinese black lacquered box with numerous figures and gilt detail.
Chinese round black lacquer and gilt painted box, made for the export market.
The round black lacquer box is decorated with beautiful gilt painting. The lid of the box painted in the shanshui style, with an idyllic river and mountain, Chinoiserie style landscape with architectural Asian decor, landscape figures of women in traditional kimonos, young boys playing near a river.
The landscape studded with trees and vegetation, and some small pagodas.
