Graphic art glass sculpture or paperweight was created with intertwining blue glass spiral coil helixes and controlled bubbles core fused in clear glass layer in sommerso technique. The sculpture has triangular shape with slightly elevated base and soft, rounded edges; the minimal shape of the piece allows the bold flow of the pattern to take the center stage. The vase is signed and dated by the artist in etching on the bottom; it is in good vintage condition with minimal, age-appropriate signs of use on the bottom. A rare French Art Deco “Nue au Bras Tendu” opalescent glass figure, designed by Lucille Sevin for Etling circa 1932. The elegant female nude is captured in a graceful, animated pose, her outstretched arm supporting a sweeping translucent drape that flows across her shoulders and frames the figure. Moulded in Etling’s distinctive opalescent glass, the sculpture displays beautiful milky-blue tones that shift according to the light, while the frosted and translucent surfaces accentuate the finely modelled features and flowing lines of the composition. Signed “Etling France” to the base. Edmond Laurent Etling established his Parisian concern in 1906, commissioning decorative works from leading artists and designers of the period. Its celebrated glass was produced at Choisy-le-Roi, with the opalescent female figures of the 1920s and 1930s becoming particularly associated with the glamour and elegance of French Art Deco. Measuring approximately 22cm high x 11.5cm wide and weighing 800g. In good overall antique condition, with a historic repair to the outstretched hand, as shown in the photographs.
