George Sellers, 'Vespidae W/Neon Tangle 'Wasp', ' Bronze, Glass Neon, and Granite

About the Item

George Sellers is a classically-trained artist who studied sculpture in Italy. George had also been doing the window art for years in New York at luxury jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels, working with the famous Douglas Little. This Dallas-based sculptor, who started his career apprenticing with a master stone carver in Italy, works almost exclusively with the underappreciated medium of plaster. “We study the frescoes and paintings on ceilings, but look right past the incredible moldings,” says Sellers. “I have trained and studied my entire career to develop and perfect the techniques and craftsmanship required to visually express my respect for all living things,” says George. “I am endlessly intrigued by the complex structure of the human hand. I am equally captivated by the sinuous architecture of the snake and the complex mechanics of an insect wing. Mystery and beauty exist in all forms of life, be it human, animal, insect, or flora. I am honored to be able to present sculptural forms that express the dignity and grace of the natural world in which we all exist.”

  • Contemporary Monument Table Lamp - Triangle in Granite, Solid Steel and Glass
    By Louis Jobst
    Located in London, GB
Monument Lamp - Triangle, Luna Pearl Granite, solid steel billet and matte opal glass globe Louis Jobst' Monument Lamp - Triangle is high quality, bespoke and handmade using solid raw materials. The bases are finished with a black patina and cut from 90mm thick steel billet. Markings from the process are visible and intentionally left, exposing the character of the material. A triangular block of Luna-pearl granite slots into the steel base. The opal glass diffuser is hand blown with a matte finish. The concept was to design a lamp triptych (triangle, circle and square) made out of high quality materials for a formal interior space. A triptych of varying forms, colors and textures could create a 'common ground' throughout a space, whilst also working as individual lamps. Inspiration has come from architectural forms such as monoliths and monuments, implemented through the design with heavy, robust materials and simple geometric forms. The lamps consist of stacked shapes, designed like a small column...
