A very fine French 19th century brown and parcel-gilt patinated bronze sculpture titled "La Sécurité" (The Security - Protection) after a model by Eugène Delaplanche (French, 1836–1891). Depicting a sitting young Maiden in a gilt-decorated armored suit and helmet, a lion skin on her back, holding a resting child on her arm. Raised on Rouge-Royal marble plinth inscribed "La Sécurité - Par E. Delaplanche - Salon des Beaux-Arts de Paris". Signed: E. Delaplanche and stamped with the importer's seal - Alberto Vignes y Ca - Buenos Aires, circa 1890.
Measures: Height: 28 3/4 inches (60.3 cm).
Width: 16 inches (40.7 cm).
Depth: 14 inches (35.6 cm).
Eugène Delaplanche (February 28, 1836 – January 10, 1891) was a French sculptor, born at Belleville (Seine).
He was a pupil of Duret, gained the Prix de Rome in 1864 (spending 1864-67 at the Villa Medici in Rome) and the medal of honor in 1878. His "Messenger of Love" (1874), "Aurora" (1878), and the "Virgin of the Lillies" (1884), are in the Luxembourg. Other works by him are "Music - La Musique" (1878, Paris Opera House), called his masterpiece; "Eve After the Fall" (1869); "Maternal Instruction" (1875, Square of Sainte-Clothilde, Paris). He is also noted for his decorations in relief on vases of Haviland faience. His best work is naturalistic, but at the same time dignified and simple in line and shows sound mastery of technique. He is represented by 15 works in the Glyptothek, Copenhagen and in many other French museums and in churches.

Superbly cast, in the Neo-Classical style, the five scrolling foliate candle branches enclosing central sconces issuing from a circular wreath supported by the winged figure of Victory (Nike), wearing diaphanous robes gathered by a sash above a long underskirt splaying out from above her ankles, with beautifully feathered wings flowing behind her as she looks straight ahead. Each figure standing on one foot, the other bent, resting on a plain sphere over a reeded palmette-cast baluster pedestal raised on square plinth. Wonderful colour and patina, pierced for electricity, old inventory label to the underside.

This beautiful French late 19th century chest of drawers in black ebonized wood and cherrywood reproduces with perfect proportions in scale a miniature cabinet with three drawers and an upper flap door that opens to reveal a white marble top and an oval mirror inside, nice hand carved band on top with geometrical pattern and molded base.
The black lacquered wood creates a wonderful contrast with the beautiful honey-colored wood grain. Despite its convenient size, extremely detailed, this chest of drawers is equipped with a white Carrara marble top and a small mirror that make it even more special and useful.
The model of a piece of furniture was originally created by cabinet makers to show their skills to the customer and to present the sample of the furniture which would then have been produced on a larger scale. These commode miniatures, along with other specimens, were displayed in the craftsman's workshop to serve as examples to aid the potential client in making a selection. These truly exceptional and rare antique Louis XVI period vases have been sculpted from agate, a precious and highly sought-after stone. The vases are set on square agate bases with gilt bronze laurel wreath socles. The burgundy and claret agate bodies of the vases are mounted with gilt bronze acanthus leaf ornamentation, and twin lion masks joined by draped swags above. The lids of the vases are mounted with gilt bronze, surmounted by pine cone finials.
The vases' design is attributed to the late 18th century, French clockmaker Martin Baffert. Baffert worked with a number of Parisian bronziers including Jean-Nicholas Fremont, Nicolas-Guillaume Jourdan and Francois-Robert Leguel, who assisted in the creation of his designs.
