Charming Silver-Gilt Centerpiece by Boin-Taburet, France, Circa 1880
Located in PARIS, FR
Elegant centerpiece in finely chiseled vermeil. Composed of a Baccarat cut-crystal cup from which emerge four sinuous light-arms. The whole rests on a scalloped mirrored tray adorned with foliage, with a molded contour of wrapped rushes and ending with four openwork feet. The two French goldsmiths George Boin and his son-in-law Emile Taburet created circa 1875 in Paris the company Boin-Taburet. They made many silver pieces inspired by the beautiful services of the eighteenth century. At the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1878, Georges Boin presented a “service de toilette” inspired by the work of François-Thomas Germain (1726-1791), and then at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, several epergnes, including one of them executed after drawings by the famous artist Juste-Aurèle Meissonier (1695-1750), as well as tea sets of Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. Boin-Taburet firm also exhibited a tureen and platter after Pierre Germain...

Murano with gold We have specialized in the sale of Art Deco and Art Nouveau and Vintage styles since 1982. If you have any questions we are at your disposal. Pushing the button that reads 'View All From Seller'. And you can see more objects to the style for sale. Attributed to Seguso - Barovier We have specialized in the sale of Art Deco and Art Nouveau and Vintage styles since 1982. If you have any questions we are at your disposal. The history of "Seguso Vetri D' Arte" is directly linked to the "Vetreria Artistica Barovier" company. When the Barovier workshop was forced to reduce production in 1929, due to a financial crisis in America, the original group of ten partners had to separate and Antonio Seguso in 1931, assisted by his sons Ernesto and Archimede opened a small workshop of his own. They were joined by Luigi Olimpio Ferro and Napoleone Barovier the following year. Together the craftsmen establish the "Artistica Soffieria e Vetreria Barovier Seguso & Ferro" company as equal partners. In 1934 Flavio Poli joins the firm as artistic director and within only a brief period of time a distinct style of designs emerged. The close collaboration between Flavio Poli, Archimede Seguso and Alfredo Barbini played an important part in the success of the company. New glass techniques are developed which include never before seen color applications. The companies innovative designs constantly received awards and during the 1935 World Fair in Brussels and the 1936 Milan Triennale they did attract the interest of a new group of clientele. One of them is the French wholesale company "Veronese" from Paris which would play a defining role in the history of the company. The demand for an increase in production requires additional investments and the partners felt that there is a need to multiply their investment tenfold. Luigi Olimpio Ferro subsequently decided to withdraw from the company and his shares are acquired by Flavio Poli, which makes him a full partner. As a result, the company name is changed to Seguso Vetri D’ Arte and it is officially recognized in 1937. A period of great success and prosperity ensues, lasting until the outbreak of World War II. The post war period is a time of great change in Europe and the rebuilding of the economical structure in Italy requires major investments which result in the introduction of new import duties and taxes. To safeguard the copyright of the Seguso Vetri D'Arte designs an application for a second entry into the commercial registers of Venice is made by the partners in 1945. Strict export regulations curb international business relations for many years after the war and the company decides to focus on the domestic market instead. In 1946 a large retail location is opened at the Piazza Diaz in Milan where in addition to the art glass, German porcelain and Italian pottery is offered. In 1950 Flavio Poli develops a new sommerso glass technique, which consists of an overlaying of transparent layers of glass. The overlapping creates new shades of color which prior to the introduction of this technique had not been seen. Flavio Poli's most iconic design is the "Valve", which resembles an upright, slightly opened clam shell. The design was introduced in 1951. Mario Pinzoni joins the company in 1953 as a personal assistant to Flavio Poli and his responsibilities as a draftsman included the compilation of archival and the existing production drawing s...

Tetard - 165pc. Antique French 950 Sterling Silver Louis XVI Flatware Set !
Located in Wilmington, DE
Direct from Paris, an amazing 165pc., privately commissioned, sterling silver flatware set by one of France’s premier silversmiths “Tetard Freres”. Include a magnificent Louis XVI, 5-drawer lockable storage cabinet and 17 serving pieces and Mother-of-Pearl handles dessert knives. The history of French silversmithing is replete with illustrious names, each contributing to the nation's reputation for exceptional silver craftsmanship. Among them, the firm “Tetard Frères” stands as one of the most prominent and revered. Founded in the late 19th century, Tetard Frères has built a legacy on the strength of its unparalleled craftsmanship, exquisite design, and sterling silver products of the highest caliber. From royal patronage to numerous international awards and accolades, the firm has become synonymous with luxury, elegance, and durability. Their flatware sets, made of 950 sterling silver, like this amazing 165pc. set, are masterpieces that continue to captivate connoisseurs and collectors alike. The Tetard Frères firm was founded in Paris in 1880 by Edmond Tetard, a master silversmith whose eye for detail and passion for innovation laid the groundwork for the company’s subsequent rise to prominence. Edmond Tetard's background as a skilled craftsman informed every aspect of his work, and his commitment to quality soon attracted clients from the upper echelons of society. Tetard Frères were known for pushing the boundaries of traditional silversmithing. Their craftsmanship blended meticulous hand-engraving, chasing, and repoussé techniques with a modern aesthetic sensibility. The brothers perfected the art of creating seamless transitions between functionality and beauty, particularly in their silver flatware, tableware, and decorative pieces. Few silversmiths can boast the level of royal and aristocratic patronage that Tetard Frères enjoyed. Their reputation for exceptional craftsmanship earned them commissions from European royal courts, including the French aristocracy, making their works a staple at grand banquets, diplomatic functions, and royal households. The royal court of France was particularly fond of Tetard Frères' creations. Their silverware and table settings were often used in royal residences, including the Palais de l'Élysée, which served as the residence of the President of the French Republic. Additionally, Tetard Frères received commissions from international royalty, including the kings and queens of Belgium, Spain, and the Netherlands. Such patronage not only bolstered the firm's reputation but also further solidified its status as the premier silversmith of choice for the elite. Tetard Frères' pieces were often customized to meet the specific requirements of their royal clients. These bespoke commissions included personalized monograms, coats of arms, and other emblems of nobility. By working closely with their aristocratic patrons, Tetard Frères ensured that each piece reflected the tastes and desires of their distinguished clientele. This bespoke approach to silversmithing added another layer of exclusivity to their work, making each item not just a work of art but also a symbol of personal identity and status. Perhaps one of the most iconic commissions was the creation of a silver flatware sets for the French government to gift to foreign dignitaries. These sets, often bearing intricate engravings or repoussé work, were designed to showcase the best of French artistry while simultaneously serving a practical purpose. The silverware produced for these occasions represented more than just luxury—it was a diplomatic tool, symbolizing France’s grandeur and cultural heritage. Tetard Frères' exceptional work did not go unnoticed on the international stage. Throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries, they participated in several international exhibitions, where their craftsmanship was celebrated and rewarded. The firm's pieces were often displayed in prominent venues such as the Exposition Universelle (World’s Fair) in Paris, where they received numerous accolades for innovation, artistry, and technical skill. At the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, Tetard Frères earned a gold medal for their outstanding work in silver. This recognition further solidified their place among the most prestigious silversmiths of the era. The firm's pieces on display included elaborate flatware sets, decorative vases, and intricate centerpieces, all of which showcased their ability to combine traditional French design with modern influences. Perhaps the most iconic and enduring product of Tetard Frères' silversmithing is their 950 sterling silver flatware sets. These sets, like this stunning 165pc. set, represent the pinnacle of luxury, combining the finest materials with expert craftsmanship to create objects of both beauty and functionality. Tetard Frères’ flatware...

Table Box Enamel on Guilloche Hand Painted Miniature Sterling Silver Salimbeni
Located in Firenze, FI
Square box in 925/1000 sterling silver gold plated with translucent fired enamel on guillochè also on the sides. In the center, a beautiful hand painted tempera miniature on a vegetable ivory plate depicting the portrait of a 19th century lady, signed by the painter Anna Maria Manfriani. Dimensions cm. 12 x 12 x 2.5. Weight gr. 618. Designed by Franco Salimbeni in 1976 and manufactured in Florence in some specimens with various subjects and different colors, in the headquarters of the Salimbeni Company with completely manual execution by artisan artists with thick slab and large reinforcements suitable for withstanding numerous enamelled firings at about 800° C. Miniature is a very ancient technique which consists of painting works in small proportions. It was born for the decoration of the first letter of the paragraph of the books. Over the years, however, this technique is refined and enriched, then moving on to precious personal items. Hand painted miniatures can be done with multiple different techniques. The most important that we use on our articles are of three kinds: 1) Fire enamel. 2) Water tempera on an ivory plate. 3) Painted on mother-of-pearl. Fire enameled miniatures: On a first layer of enamel generally white or very clear or even transparent suitably liquefied at a temperature of about 750 ° C, the chosen subject is painted using miniature colors which are as many colored crystals, ground and reduced to a very fine, almost impalpable powder washed and purified in distilled water with the addition of small quantities of deoxidizing acids which, diluted with essential oils (usually essential oil of solder), can be mixed to form a palette of colors. With very fine sable hair brushes you draw the subject starting from the perimeter and then gradually adding various layers of color. It is necessary to carry out various firings very often so that the colors harden and are not absorbed by the underlying glaze as, during the subsequent firings at 750 ° C, during liquefaction, it would spread irremediably. Hence the need to form the painting a little at a time, cooking it numerous times. Therefore it is necessary to proceed with numerous retouching, often overlapping different colors that only the painter's experience knows. A beautiful miniature needs from 20 to over 50 firings and is finished when the painter deems he does not have to further intervene. Some colors must have darker tones than others because then, by superimposing the transparent enamel placed at the end of the miniature, they fade. This transparent layer, called “fondant” in jargon, must be smoothed and polished like all other translucent enamel colors. The miniatures with water tempera colors are painted on real ivory...
