Shades are made from genuine goatskin parchment, hand-selected for each lamp for its natural texture, pattern and color. Reminiscent of the lunar surface, its superior quality of light is unlike paper of any kind. Variations in pattern and texture are the be expected as each skin is unique. Shade construction is unlined, utilizing a single layer of parchment for optimal light transmission and may have a slight bow or curvature of the surface. This is a natural characteristic of the grain of the animal hide as well as the hand stretching and tanning process.
All material finishes are living finishes: they will change and patina for the better with time and use. Every product is individually hand assembled; slight variations in color, size and shape are to be expected. Recommended bulb “LED 75/100 Watt Equivalent 2700k Dimmable” included. LED bulb only. Hardwired fixtures must be installed by a licensed electrician. Mounts only to standard junction boxes with either 2-3/4” or 3-1/2” mounting screw distance. Not suitable for damp locations. Elegant Hollywood Regency hand-hammered gilt iron sunburst flower light fixture / flush mount, France, 1940s-1950s.
This flush mount ceiling light features a wrought iron structure comprised by gold gilt iron scalloped leaves. The part surrounding the bulb is decorated by an undulated ring.
Entirely made by hand, it has gold leaf gilt finish and a dramatic aged patina.
It can be placed flush mounted or hanging from a chain as pendant. It also could work as a decorative wall light. This piece combines Hollywood Regency and Brutalist accents and it will be a nice addition to any room or entry hall.

Shades are made from genuine goatskin parchment, hand-selected for each lamp for its natural texture, pattern and color. Reminiscent of the lunar surface, its superior quality of light is unlike paper of any kind. Variations in pattern and texture are the be expected as each skin is unique. Shade construction is unlined, utilizing a single layer of parchment for optimal light transmission and may have a slight bow or curvature of the surface. This is a natural characteristic of the grain of the animal hide as well as the hand stretching and tanning process.
All material finishes are living finishes: they will change and patina for the better with time and use. Every product is individually hand assembled; slight variations in color, size and shape are to be expected. Recommended bulb “LED 75/100 Watt Equivalent 2700k Dimmable” included. LED bulb only. While electric light bulbs were a huge improvement over gas and oil lamps for lighting our homes, we still had much work to do in order to arrive at the broad range of table lamps, pendants, sconces and other fixtures that are available today.
Lighting technology and design improved substantially over time. Engaging engineers, scientists, architects and designers alike, the field of lighting became a major proving ground for state-of-the-art materials like plastics, inventive new mechanisms and emotionally resonant styles that included the ethereal (Isamu Noguchi’s Akari light sculpture), the whimsical (Gino Sarfatti’s 2109 ceiling light and Sputnik chandelier) and the eclectically postmodern (the Toio floor lamp crafted by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni). Eventually, flush mount light fixtures became a practical option for home lighting.
Flush mount lighting fixtures are among the most convenient ways to light a small room with a low ceiling. These structures sit directly against the ceiling’s surface and cast light downward, illuminating a large area and defining the room. Semi-flush mount lighting fixtures hang several inches from the ceiling. They also produce ambient light but can be a little more decorative and lean toward the style of chandeliers.
Flush mount lighting is versatile. Larger fixtures distribute more ambient light across the center of the room, while smaller flush mount fixtures are best for accent or task lighting. The main drawback of flush mount fixtures is that they don’t make a strong statement. You can remedy this by strategically arranging decorative accents that flourish in soft lighting.
