Early-Mid-20th Century Art Moderne Maple Twin Bed Headboard & Footboard

Early-Mid-20th Century Art Moderne Maple Twin Bed Headboard & Footboard

By Russel Wright, Bissman Furniture Company, Conant Ball

Located in Topeka, KS

Handsome Early-Mid-20th Century Art Moderne solid maple twin bed headboard & footboard in the style of Bissman and after Russel Wright for Conant Ball. This piece has been attributed based upon archived research including online sources, vintage documentation and catalogs, designer literature, and other materials however, it is not signed or marked in any way. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, metal siderails will be provided. No outstanding flaws we have detected just a beautiful original finish with all its wonderful age patina. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Early to Mid-20th Century. NOTE: If you love this Art Moderne maple twin headboard & footboard we have the matching chest and nightstand listed here for sale individually and a separate listing for the set if they are still available. “Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise!” Good advice, Ben Franklin!!! Maybe we can help with that!! This is a spectacular solid maple twin sized headboard and footboard bearing a beautiful rectangular shape with lovely, hand-carved, or hand-sculpted rounded edges. We will include metal siderails upon purchase. This is a classic beauty with an Art Moderne style that you are sure to love for years to come. It is designed in a style after Russel Wright for Conant Ball or Bissman. My mother (who is a retired interior designer and has been identifying vintage pieces since before I was born… and I am vintage myself!!) believes the actual style is a copy after Russel Wright but the construction leads her to believe it’s Bissman. It is not marked, but no matter, it is INCREDIBLE!! The design world calls these transition pieces… of the era when pieces transitioned between the Art Deco period and the Mid-Century Modern period, during the early portion of the 20th century. Ahhhhh, the good ‘ol days!! LOVE IT!!! The maple bears a beautiful natural shade and it features clean lines, a timeless presence, and simple design sure to blend in beautifully with any décor. We think it would be fabulous utilized in a children’s bedroom but it would also be wonderful in a college dorm, guest room, or an industrial loft apartment! Spectacular in its simplicity, this is exactly the twin bed set...

Well, this is DEFINITELY the right time AND the right light to make your home feel extraordinary!! We have a fabulous table lamp by elite manufacturer Frederick Cooper to offer to you. It is large scale and comprised of a hand hammered copper urn or jug shaped body, a round black painted wood base, hand forged hammered copper and iron double handles, and a knob shaped brass finial. And it is topped with a stunning black coolie shade with an inner shade that has a black and metallic gold modeled finish. It almost gives off a bronze hue…It’s just GORGEOUS!! This table lamp is Moorish style, but it leans a bit Traditional as well. We think it will blend in beautifully in any room that needs just the right amount of elegant ambience. It’s going to be lovely on a side or end table in your sitting room, on a sofa table in your living room, or on an accent table in your bedroom. Frederick Cooper, an artist from Chicago established a studio to create gorgeous sculptures and watercolor paintings in 1923. He was also drawn to the still fairly new invention of lamps. Mixing such materials as brass, fabric, glass, and wood, he created exquisitely designed lamps that complimented the quick innovations in American architecture. The heritage continues today. They use fine materials such as brass, bronze, copper, nickel, marble, jade, and alabaster. They also create art glazed ceramics, hand decorated porcelains, and crystals. They refer to their designs and creations as “illuminated art.” Including design collaborations with Larry Laslo, Maria Buatta, Alexander Julian...

Also, when we photographed one light did not have its chain & canopy, but it will be provided before we ship it out. Chain lengths can be altered upon request. “In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary!” – Aaron Rose. And these white milk glass & aluminum monumental cylinder pendant lights by Visa are nothing short of that… Totally EXTRAORDINARY!!! And let me tell you… SIZE MATTERS FOLKS!!! And the glass body ALONE on one is 30 inches tall… 35.25 inches rim to rim… 43 inches to the top of the cone and it’s 14 inches in diameter!! HOLY MOLY!!! They are LARGE and in CHARGE!!! We have 4 of these fabulous, hardwired pendant lights that we are selling separately. They are comprised of an incredible milk glass cylinder shade, a marvelous spun aluminum base, top rim (or flange), and a wonderful cone shaped finial. Inside the cylinder is a metal dowl rod with a lamp holder featuring 6 sockets with bulbs… 3 facing up and 3 facing down. And if you follow that rod down even lower, there is yet another single down facing light. So, this means you have TWO lighting options… You can have ALL the lights on OR you can switch off the down facing light. Isn’t it NICE to have options?? And all this MAGNIFICENCE hangs from a fabulous spun aluminum canopy and handsome metal hanging chain. Fun Fact!!! Visa Lighting has a cool little video on U-Tube discussing their products and history and these EXACT light fixtures make a quick appearance in the video photographed with a red background behind the lights, you should check it out!! They’re kind of FAMOUS!! We can just see a series of three or all four hanging over your dining table, kitchen island, or indoor bar. And though they are Art Deco Revival in style, they will also blend in beautifully with your Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Modern, and other décor styles. A single light would be stunning in a tall, narrow entryway, stairwell, or hallway or a sequence of three or four in your Great room hanging from the tall, vaulted ceilings. They would also be beautiful in a bedroom, in your study, or in the living room. Endless incredible possibilities. Visa lighting has a long and rich history beginning back in 1919 as the Mo Bridges Lighting Company. About ten years later there was a company split, and they went from Mo Bridges to Mo Brothers Manufacturing. Well known for their ornate, hand-crafted light fixtures and chandeliers. You know, 1971 was a VERY good year… There were 3 partial solar eclipses AND there were TWO total lunar eclipses in the SAME year!!… The FIRST EVER Starbucks opened at the historic Pike Place Market in Seattle, Washington… A movie ticket only cost $1.50… Oh ya… AND it’s the year I was BORN!! (Hmmmmm, those eclipses may explain a few things in my life!) LOL…Anyway, how privileged am I to share a birthday with these MARVELOUS occasional chairs by Thomasville!!! This is a set of four incredible Thomasville low profile occasional chairs in the style of James Mont covered in a deep black faux ebony finish bearing a naturally distressed all-over patina on their frames. They have wide, square seats wearing lovely black vinyl or faux leather fabric that is nice enough to use for a while but eventually you may want to reupholster. Just think of the limitless fabric possibilities!!! They feature beautifully carved Asian detailed backs and straight square legs with a wide and sturdy stance. The front legs have a slightly turned in foot, but no rounded hoof look so not quite the Ming style, but we might say a hint or bit of flair. They are definitely bursting with styles of Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie, and Chinese Chippendale magnificence and are sure to be a favorite new addition to your home! They are too low for use at a standard dining table; however, if you have a low profile Asian Chabudai (Japanese short-legged table,) or a low-profile game table, these would be a perfect fit!! Otherwise, you could certainly use them as extra seating in your living or family room or split them up and use two in the corner of your bedroom and two in the sitting room or study across from your fireplace. They are very versatile, composed of solid frames, and they bear an unmatchable and timeless Thomasville reputation!! They are EXACTLY what the designer ordered! The original Thomasville furniture company was founded in 1904. At the time, it was called the Thomasville chair company since the company focused on producing chairs exclusively. Over the next few decades, the catalog expanded to include additional furniture pieces. During this time, the original company went through several owners; despite this, the company still experienced financial success even through economic hardship of the 1930s. Vintage pieces from the Thomasville Furniture company run the gamut from chairs to dining room furniture and many different types of furniture in between. The earliest pieces from the company, when it was still known as the Thomasville Chair Company, are considered the most rare and valuable. If you are looking for authentic Thomasville vintage pieces, you will need to find them on the secondhand market. Thomasville Furniture is one of the most recognized furniture companies in America. You can count on Thomasville furniture for incredible dining room and bedroom furniture. – vintage furniture...

Steampunk Industrial Copper Timpani Kettle Drum Center Table by WFL Drum Co

By Ludwig Drums

Located in Topeka, KS

Awesome vintage steampunk Industrial or rustic copper kettle drum center table by W.F.L. Drum Company. Comprised of copper painted aluminum arms & base, copper kettle, drum skin top with painted steel rim, and chrome handles. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This has an overall aged patina that is superb and consists of dings, dents, scratches, etc. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, 1937-1950’s. Everyone dances to the beat of their own drum, it’s what makes the world go ‘round! But let me tell you something… You are about to BUST A MOVE when you lay eyes on this INCREDIBLE copper kettle drum, we are offering as a REAL drum table, by W.F.L. Drum Company!!! AAAAHHHHH!! IT. IS. AWESOME!!! Its exclusive style borders between Industrial, steampunk, and a bit rustic. It is center table height, and it is comprised of a copper kettle surrounded by copper painted aluminum base, arms, and foot pedal and a fabulous drum skin top with a painted steel rim and vertical chrome handles. A fun fact… W.F.L. Drum Company was established by William F. Ludwig and a MONUMENTAL moment for Ludwig was on a Sunday night in February 1964 “The Beatles” preformed “All My Loving” as the intro song on “The Ed Sullivan Show” as Ringo Starr jammed out on his iconic drums which bared the Ludwig logo! Sheer popularity pandemonium for Ludwig after that! This is the ULTIMATE must-have for a music enthusiast or drum lover!!! How awesome would this be displayed in a music room in a corner between a couple of chairs holding a record player and set of vinyl, in a game room as a lamp table, or just an entertaining way to display your Beatles or Ringo Starr memorabilia? We think it would be fun to put a piece of glass either directly on top of the drum OR float the glass on the chrome handles and give it a floating effect! There are just TOO many fun possibilities with this especially unique find! The Ludwig Drum...

Old Ecclesiastical Religious Art Sacred Heart of Jesus Plaster Statue Sculpture
Old Ecclesiastical Religious Art Sacred Heart of Jesus Plaster Statue Sculpture

Old Ecclesiastical Religious Art Sacred Heart of Jesus Plaster Statue Sculpture

Located in Topeka, KS

Glorious Late 19th to Early 20th Century Ecclesiastical Religious Art Sacred Heart of Jesus plaster statue sculpture upon a gilded wood base. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, his hands only had the wire structure so new hand-molded & crafted hands were created by our professional craftsmen and the wood on the base was bad so it has been given a new gilded wood base. He has many chips in the plaster that have been repaired and the whole statue has been shellacked. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 19th – Early 20th Century. Heaven knows we could all use a little more Jesus in our lives!! Well, your prayers have just been answered!!! This is an absolutely magnificent Ecclesiastical Religious Art plaster statue of The Sacred Heart of Jesus. He is comprised of hand sculpted and hand painted plaster and he stands about 43 inches tall upon a square flat edge gilded wood base. He has handsome, realistic, intricately hand painted facial features, and his glorious dark brown shoulder length hair drapes gracefully upon his shoulders. He wears a lovely, flowing robe featuring the Sacred Heart symbol upon his chest and his beautiful bare feet are exposed at the base of his robe. His enticing hands are open and reaching out as if to welcome you into his arms. The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most widely practiced Catholic Faith devotions wherein the heart of Jesus Christ is viewed as a symbol of “God’s boundless and passionate love for mankind.” The Sacred Heart is depicted as a flaming heart shining from behind with divine light, pierced by the lance with a bleeding wound, and encircled by the crown of thorns. And Christian faith depicts it more as a flaming heart, while the wounds and crown of thorns allude to the manner of Christ’s passion and the flames a furnace of ardent love. You can depict it how you choose! We believe that his original home was most likely a wonderful old church where he was admired for many years. Due to his materials, he should only be exhibited indoors…. Which is exactly where we all need the Lord to be anyway… on the inside!!! He will be absolutely divine in your entry way or heavenly in a sunroom surrounded by indoor foliage or faux plants & trees. He has an all-over “perfectly imperfect” aged patina, a few “character enhancing” chips that you would expect given his vintage age, and an angelic aura...

By Dux of Sweden, Folke Ohlsson

Located in Topeka, KS

Handsome and iconic Scandinavian Modern Scissor lounge chair designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX. It is in wonderful vintage condition. The wood frame has been restored; however, there may still be small signs of age. We did have to fill some rather deep flaws in the wood. The straps have been replaced with appropriate new straps. And the foam cushions are new and newly upholstered. Please see photos, circa 1950s. Now you can get all your DUX in a row!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. This is the iconic and beautiful Scissor Lounge Chair. It was designed by Folke Ohlsson for his company DUX, Inc. purportedly in 1949. It is so incredible in its simplicity and when viewed from the side you can see immediately where it got its name. We are very excited about this wonderful chair here at our shop. Its walnut frame has been completely restored and we have replaced all the straps, which were beyond repair, with proper strapping. Late 20th Century Modified Tuxedo Slipcover Style Pillow Back Large Scale Sofa

Located in Topeka, KS

Charming late 20th century modified tuxedo slipcover style pillow back large scale sofa. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. This sofa will need to be reupholstered. There are rust stains on the body along with other stains even though it has been professionally cleaned. It has been priced accordingly. The loose-24-inch pillows are in good condition although the poly fil in the animal print pillows is twisted and needs to be repositioned. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. circa, late 20th century. They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, well, behold this beauty! But don’t look at the fabric ethel!!!! Lol!!!! Ok, so… this sofa is a definite reupholster which we feel comes with SO MANY fabulous opportunities! Plus, the sofa has really good bones. Let’s talk about the “bones” first!! This baby is large scale, and the arms have a slight angle; hence, modified tuxedo style, two loose feather wrapped foam zippered seat cushions, a loose pillow back with five unzippered 24 inch poly filled pillows, and black painted wood tapered legs under the skirt. It is upholstered in a slipcover style and right now, it has a Neoclassical look with Greek key detail trimming the base of the skirt combined with animal print pillows, but changing the fabric will completely change the style of the sofa. Versatility overload!! Three pillows are solid off-white linen on one side and textured & striped off-white linen on the other side and two pillows are camel or khaki and off white animal print. If you put a neutral cover on the sofa you could use ANY pillows. You could have so much fun with that! Adorn it with seasonal or holiday pillows...

He assisted in designing several hotels in the United States and the Caribbean. He purchased a home in Haiti in the 1960’s where he and his family would live for six months out of the year. It is where he befriended DeWitt Peters, the founder of Le Centre D'Art, which helped promote interest in Haitian art & craft giving opportunity to hundreds of local artists, many of whom were once impoverished. Mr. Peabody served as Director of Le Centre D’Art. He incorporated Haitian art in his designs and helped bring a collection of one-of-a-kind furniture made by Haitian craftsmen to the United States. Most of his recognized furniture designs were manufactured by Richard Nemschoff...
