I Hope He Knows the Way Home, Original Contemporary Narrative Wooden Sculpture
Located in Boston, MA
I Hope He Knows the Way Home, Original Contemporary Narrative Wooden Sculpture 14" x 24" x 50" (HxWxD) Wood, String, Plastic, Clear Finish This wooden sculpture by artist Todd McCollister features a sleek and modern design with smooth, undulating platforms that meet at dynamic angles that complement the organic figure of the elephant that is descending the staircase. Artist Commentary: Sometimes, after very bad things, there is magic. I woke up with one surviving image from a rich and elaborate dream. A horse, saddled but riderless, badly burned, was descending stairs, almost home. Around his neck was a beautiful string of fish...

Listening at the Cliffside, Original Contemporary Wooden Mixed Media Sculpture
Located in Boston, MA
Listening at the Cliffside, Original Contemporary Wooden Mixed Media Sculpture 20" x 65" x 42" (HxWxD) Wood, Stone, String, Brass Bell, Glass Bottle, Clear Finish In this highly conceptual work, artist Todd McCollister has combined a myriad of elements to depict a narrative scene that makes the viewer pause. Inspired by historical elements, the work explores space, structure, and sound. A small boat-shaped after shave bottle serves as a floating element beneath a brass bell. A wall of undulating wood creates the cliffside, while more delicate beams of wood jut behind the piece, somehow evoking both fragility and the integrity of industrial engineering at work. Artist Commentary: This piece started as a reference to the "acoustic mirror" listening stations on the southeast coast of England. These huge concrete parabolic reflectors focus sound to a small point. During the second world war, the British posted soldiers at the focus of each one, where they would listen for German boats...

19th Century Pair of Hand-Carved Hall Chairs from Mexico
Located in Troy, NY
These 19th Century hand-carved hall chairs from Mexico are reminiscent of a Renaissance style in the design of the faces of the angels and ornamentation. This native wood is walnut colored with a stain that gives the chairs a caramel glow. The cushions are upholstered in a, light yellow silk brocade fabric. There are pin-sized holes from an earlier exposure to termites, a desirable element in antique Mexican furniture...

American Surrealist pipes and playing cards spirit of Magritte abstract Montage
By Charles Green Shaw
Located in Norwich, GB
I love this extraordinary American surrealist piece - a collage/montage, an assembly of objects in a velvet-clad box/frame - for a number of reasons reasons. I love the fact that it depicts pipes, among the most iconic images of the surrealist movement, rooted in Magritte’s famous 1929 painting which depicts a pipe accompanied by the caption “Ceci n'est pas une pipe” (This is not a pipe). Marcel Duchamp loved using pipes...

Monkey Head Natural Sisal Fiber Clay Sculpture Chimpanzee Anne Andersson Art
Located in Surfside, FL
Anne Andersson Sisal fiber wall sculpture Monkey Head (# 1) Hand signed to verso Dated 2009. Measures approx. 11" height x 10" width x 6 1/4" depth. Her sculptures are made of natural sisal Fiber from an agave and meticulously hand painted. The eyes are hand blown glass. Anne Andersson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a great desire to explore Nature and a Passion for Art. She received a degree in science in 1981 from Kjällbergska University in Gothenburg and a degree in Art from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She now works from her studio in St. Petersburg, Florida as a Sculptor, illustrator and painter. Her work calls to mind the animalia artworks of Henri Maik and Gustavo Novoa. Anne Andersson's artwork serves as an homage to our planet’s charismatic and rare wild animals. Inspired by the majesty and beauty of exotic wildlife, and motivated by an urge to preserve them, Anne’s astonishingly realistic life-size sculptures capture the experience of seeing these animals up close without exploiting them. Her sculpted work using natural materials and clay, provides a humane alternative to big game trophy hunting and taxidermy. She combines her talents in painting, tapestry weaving and illustration with an intuitive attention to the smallest detail to truly bring her sculptures to life. She has created lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, bobcats, lynxes, pumas, panthers, elephants, rhinos, bears, water buffalo, bison, moose, wolves, coyotes and more—but she feels closest to the big cats. Anne graduated with honors at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 1989. It was then that she met Don Moore...
