Published in 1967, this original travel poster by N. Mavroyenis was issued by the Greek National Tourist Organization (GNTO) to promote Greece as one of the world's great cultural destinations. The Acropolis of Athens, crowned by the Parthenon, remains the supreme symbol of ancient Greek civilization. Constructed during the 5th century BC under the leadership of Pericles, the Parthenon was designed by the architects Ictinus and Callicrates, with its sculptural decoration supervised by Phidias. Today, the Acropolis is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and continues to represent the foundations of democracy, philosophy, architecture, and Western culture.
