Original 1933 Italian travel poster promotes Trento - ENIT Italian Railways

Located in PARIS, FR

This magnificent original 1933 Italian travel poster promotes Trento, issued by ENIT (Ente Nazionale Italiano per il Turismo) to celebrate this Alpine city’s cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty. The poster features an elegant and detailed illustration of the Monumento a Dante, the imposing statue of Dante Alighieri inaugurated in 1896, framed by a lush landscaped park and set against the dramatic backdrop of the Dolomite foothills. The harmonious composition bathes Trento in the gentle warm light of a late afternoon, with pastel pink clouds illuminating the scene and a palette of bright florals and deep green conifers guiding the viewer’s gaze toward the monument. Printed by the renowned Chappuis printing house in Bologna, the poster is marked with the ENIT emblem at lower left, signifying its official purpose to promote Italy’s regional cities and historic sites. The stylised border and typographic simplicity evoke the Art Deco aesthetic popular in Italian graphic design during the 1930s, combining classical elegance with modern clarity. Trento, historically a meeting point of Italian and Germanic cultures, was in the interwar period developing its tourism identity as the “Gateway to the Dolomites.” This poster captures that strategy, celebrating both the city’s urban sophistication and its natural surroundings. Today, ENIT posters...

S. written by Sandro Volta, editor-in-chief of the weekly "Oggi", addressed to Mino Maccari. Rome, April 27th XVII. 1p 21x29cm, on “Oggi. Direction and editorial staff ". Perfect state. Request for collaboration for the new publication. Having placed the seals on Leo Longanesi's Omnibus, because it was a magazine not aligned with the regime, the publisher Angelo Rizzoli devises a way not to waste the intelligence and wealth of professionalism that had made the newspaper a new way of doing journalism. He founded a new newspaper that looked at news, literature and history, namely the "Oggi", with the format and setting of the Omnibus, at the direction of which there were two new recruits: Arrigo Benedetti and Mario Pannunzio, who will become the most celebrated couple of Italian journalism. On June 3, 1939, the first issue of Oggi was published, a newspaper that will launch young writers who will reach international fame such as Elio Vittorini, Tommaso Landolfi, Ennio Flaiano, Elsa Morante...
