Cartier Wedding Rings
Cartier’s timeless array of wedding rings features individual creative styles as well as those belonging to specific collections that the brand has introduced over the years.
The 1895 wedding band, for example, is part of Cartier’s greater 1895 line. Available in classic rounded bands made of 18-karat yellow gold, pink gold and more, the 1895 wedding band has long been a popular item from the legendary French fine jewelry house. A striking variation of this ring, from the end of the 19th century, sets a brilliant-cut diamond within a platinum band. Cartier integrated the use of platinum in its fine jewelry like no other jewelry house before it. The strong metal, sourced from Russian mines at the time, rendered the diamonds in their rings as dazzlingly as possible. It was yet another attribute that set the storied jeweler apart from its competitors.
Founded in Paris in 1847 by Louis-François Cartier (1819–1904), the company achieved early success with watches, owing to the work of the founder’s grandsons, Louis, Pierre and Jacques, who ensured the name would be globally recognized as they oversaw expansion into London and New York. Timepieces were soon integral to the house’s business, but Cartier became especially known for its rings.
The traditional exchange of wedding bands goes at least as far back as the Egyptian pharaohs, who believed that the ring — a circle, a form with no beginning and no end — was a symbol of eternity. It only makes sense that Cartier’s own understated symbol of eternal love — the Love bracelet — should also be fashioned one day as a Love ring.
Today, Cartier’s Love collection includes wedding bands, available in white gold, yellow gold and platinum, which can be set with a brilliant-cut diamond. In the spirit of commitment, each iteration of the Love wedding band is dotted with replicas of screwheads, a nod to the bracelet’s iconic locking feature.

For one thing, the French luxury house is known for its very long history of unparalleled prestige and quality craftsmanship. Cartier has been producing extraordinary jewelry, watches and accessories since 1847. While jewelry lovers have long been enthusiastic about Cartier’s elegant and streamlined designs for bracelets, rings, necklaces and other pieces, the brand is also known for innovation. It pioneered the use of platinum in fine jewelry, and its artisans were so mindful of trends in fashion that the house became the official jewelry supplier to King Edward VII. Later, Cartier’s Art Deco-era pieces would help define the movement with which they are associated. One of the brand’s earliest major successes was the Santos de Cartier watch, one of the world's first modern wristwatches for men. Today’s influencers continue to help popularize the brand, increasing the demand for certain pieces like Cartier buffalo horn sunglasses and the Cartier Love bracelet, an icon of modernist jewelry.
