Otis Elgin Craft 1920 Art Deco Desk Cigarette Double Box Lacquered Chromed Steel
By Elgin American Mfg Co., Casey Otis
Located in Miami, FL
Art Deco machine age box designed by Otis-Elgin Craft. A fine and very rare original 1920s-1930s iconic Art Deco Machine Age combination of double cigarette smokers box and cased with a 360o movable black bakelite pen holder, from the modernist streamlined era of Industrial Design aesthetic. Carefully crafted by the Otis-Elgin Craft Company in solid chromed steel with black and burgundy lacquered enamels and black enameled zig-zag graphics at the eight corners, the chromium gleams and the hinged tops open to reveal cigarette compartments. The interior of the boxes are lined up with natural cedar wood. Very nice collectible item and a great addition to any Art Deco lover. Will look great in a desk and surely a conversation piece. Note: Made by Otis Manufacturing Company, working with Elgin American company, the subsidiary of Illinois Watch Case Company. So, really, this is an Otis (manufacturer) and Elgin Craft (trade name) box. Weight: 574.95 Grams, (1.27 Pounds). Measurements: 213.30 mm by 92.70 mm by 42 mm (8.4 x 3.65 x 1.65 Inches). Hallmarks: Stamped with the logo and the maker's mark. Elgin American was an American brand known for producing watches, jewelry cigarette cases and compacts during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Illinois Watchcases Company owned it. In 1901, the company abandoned the Elgin name due to trademark infringement claims made by the Elgin National Watch Co...

Handcrafted and Inlaid World War II Italian Nutwood Tank Design Cigarette Box
Located in Lisse, NL
Unique cigarette box celebrating the end of WWII in Italy in 1944. If you have a passion for rare wartime antiques then this handcrafted cigarette box celebrating the end of the second world war in Italy could be yours to own and enjoy. Apart from very well made, it is also made of some beautiful woodtypes such as the solid nutwood cigarette holders and the stunning burl veneer on the front and back. Whomever created this piece must have been both very impressed and truly grateful to see the American / allied tanks roll into his town or village. With smoking still very popular amongst soldiers back in those days, we feel this work of post-trench art could very well have been presented to one of the soldiers as a token of appreciation and gratitude. This box still opens and shuts perfectly and apart from one replaced canon on the front, this unique box could not be more original. The beautiful wood inlay on top too is in excellent condition and the gun and hatch on top of that can be rotated. This one of a kind box makes a great deskpiece, but no matter where you decide to have it on display, the beauty and history of this antique talking...
