Clarice Cliff Cup and Saucer Rare Pine Grove Bizarre Ptn Art Deco, Circa 1935
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
This is a cup & saucer duo in the rarely seen, hand painted "Pine Grove" Pattern by the renowned Art Deco designer Clarice Cliff. This piece dates to the late Bizarre period, Circa 1935. The Pine Grove Pattern was Newport pattern 6449, having boldly drawn black, blue and green fir trees with orange/red trunks, the whole design then covered in thin grey, blue & green bands. This pattern is rarely seen but has the distinctive "Clarice" look of the early Bizarre pieces. Located in Auribeau sur Siagne, FR
Description: This striking glazed pottery platter, crafted in France in the 1970s, features a bold and expressive black bull at its center, surrounded by vibrant accents of yellow, green, and blue. Vibrant Glaze Work: The layered glazes in yellow, green, and blue enhance the platter’s visual dynamism, catching light and adding depth to the composition. 1970s French Craftsmanship: Made in France during a creative and bold era for ceramics, this platter is an authentic reflection of regional craftsmanship and artistic innovation. Decorative & Functional: Suitable as a centerpiece on a dining or coffee table, mounted on a wall, or used as a serving platter, it brings color and energy to any setting. Versatile Integration: Its graphic motif and strong palette make it ideal for modern, rustic, or eclectic interiors, effortlessly bridging traditional charm and contemporary appeal. Toshiko Takaezu Signed Japanese Shigaraki Ware Pottery Chawan Yunomi Tea Bowl
Located in Studio City, CA
An absolutely beautiful and extremely rare Shigarakai Yaki Ware Chawan tea bowl / Yunomi cup by famed Japanese Hawaiian American pottery master Toshiko Takaezu. The work features a gorgeous dripped glaze over a anagama kiln fired Shigaraki clay body. It is a unique and one-of-a-kind work with a very Wabi-Sabi feel to it. The piece is signed on the base with her traditional "TT" mark / monogram. Shigaraki Ware pottery comes from Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The kiln there is one of six ancient kilns in Japan (along with Echizen ware, Seto ware, Bizen ware, Tamba ware, and Tokoname ware). In 1993, Toshiko was invited to Japan by Shiro Otani to work with the quartz rich clay and local artists/potters at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park. In 1995 she made the journey there to work in master Japanese ceramicist Shiho Kanzaki's studio in Shigaraki,. We believe this work was likely created at this time. It appears few pieces that she made during this particular visit exists today as we have only seen one other work - another Chawan - that she created during this trip (The works were fired in Kanzaki's anagama kiln in February 1996 and subsequently shipped back to Toshiko in New Jersey). This particular work also encompasses the Japanese Wabi-Sabi aesthetic - the appreciation of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete in nature and embraces the principles of asymmetry, roughness, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy, and the appreciation of both natural objects and the forces of nature upon them. Would be a great addition to any collectors of Toshiko's work or Japanese/Hawaiian pottery...

George E. Ohr Signed Biloxi Mississippi Art Pottery Glazed Ceramic Baluster Vase
By George Ohr
Located in Studio City, CA
A wonderfully designed and beautifully glazed vase by renowned American / Mississippian master potter George E. Ohr. ( or as he famously referred to himself as the "Mad Potter of Biloxi") The work features a gorgeous mottled green spinach high glaze with a myriad of colors and tones including browns, tans, and yellows. Very striking. George Ohr (July 12, 1857 – April 7, 1918) is widely considered to be America's first art potter. Many art historians believe Ohr was a precursor to the American Abstract-Expressionism movement due to his innovative experimentation with modern clay forms. Ohr's works are featured in many prominent collections and museums both domestically and abroad. From 2007 to 2010 Ohr Rising: The Emergence of an American Master, a major national exhibition of Ohr pottery...

SCHEURICH RED 70s FAT LAVA FLOOR VASE West Germany 1970s marked 284-47
Located in Landshut, BY
a striking RED FAT LAVA FLOOR VASE no. 284-47 by SCHEURICH Scheurich originated from a joint venture initiated in 1928 by Alois Scheurich and his cousin Fridolin Greulich in the small town of Schneeberg, situated near the Czech border in Saxony. The venture involved the wholesaling of glass, porcelain, and ceramics. In 1938, the business was relocated to the market community of Kleinheubach in the northeast corner of Bavaria. Ten years later, the partners initiated the production of household ceramics, which were sold under the name Scheurich & Greulich. In 1954, the partnership was dissolved, and Alois proceeded to establish Scheurich GmbH & Co. KG proceeded to continue production independently. In 1955, the celebrated designer Heinz Siery was recruited by Scheurich as the company's lead form designer. In addition to designing an extensive range of shapes, he played a pivotal role in developing a successful overarching production strategy. This strategy involved producing a wide array of simple forms that could be produced cheaply and decorated in a variety of glazes. This resulted in the creation of a diverse and economically adaptable range of pieces. This approach proved to be entirely successful, resulting in Scheurich's ascendency in the market by the late 1960s. The company's strategy of maintaining low prices in conjunction with an extensive range of appealing designs resulted in significant sales, with millions of units sold annually. The designs were adapted twice a year to align with changing consumer preferences. Scheurich's product range included vases and flowerpots, in addition to ashtrays, piggy banks, candle stands, beer mugs, buffet clocks, wall reliefs and Christmas tree holders...
