Giacomo Grosso (Cambiano, Turin, 23 May 1860 - Turin, 14 January 1938)
Biography
Ninth of the eleven children of the Cambianese carpenter Guglielmo Grosso and Giovanna Vidotti, after abandoning his studies at the seminary in Giaveno he graduated from the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, becoming a professor of painting in 1889.
His academic technique and his stylistic conservatism guaranteed him great success with the aristocratic and upper-class clientele, and earned him numerous awards and recognitions.
He exhibited throughout Europe, often frequented Paris and in 1908 he was in Buenos Aires with his pupil Carlo Gaudina to create a cycle of decorations.
