19th Century Large Indian Agra in Garden Pattern in Saffron Yellow, Green, Pink
Located in Barrington, IL
This exquisite 19th-century Indian Agra rug is a rare and striking example of refined craftsmanship and historic design. Hand-knotted in the late 1800s, the rug features an allover garden motif—a hallmark of classical Agra weaving inspired by the royal Mughal courts. The luminous saffron yellow field is adorned with delicately rendered birds, branches, and floral elements in French blue, rose pink, deep red, sage green, ivory, and warm brown. The composition evokes the serene beauty of a Persian-style “Chahar Bagh” (four-part garden), symbolizing paradise on earth. Its abrash green border showcases natural tonal variations that enhance the rug’s sense of depth and movement. A masterful combination of color and detail, this piece offers timeless elegance, ideal for anchoring both traditional and contemporary interiors. Perfect for designers and collectors seeking authenticity, this rug is both an artwork and a conversation piece—a genuine antique that bridges history and design sensibility. Dimensions: 11’ 6″ x 17’ Date of Manufacture: 4th Quarter of the 1800s Place of...

Most under-saddle carpets include two to four holes near the center, through which the girth straps of the saddle were threaded. Dated to the late 19th century, this Tibetan saddle carpet...

Vintage American Hand Hooked Rug in Block Pattern
Located in Barrington, IL
Vintage American hand hooked area rug in a block pattern circa the early 20th century. The very unique and beautiful design in this vintage folk art hooked rug consists of a 5 x 7 block pattern each containing a different design. The design in this hand hooked rug is unique since the blocks around the perimeter of the rug are in a geometric pattern and the blocks in the center of the rug are in floral pattern. The design is set on a tan color background. The colors in each block are vibrant and make them stand out. Beautiful piece of Americana folk art to be used as a table top display or a wall art. The hooked rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are made with recycled old material, often used clothing that had been cut into narrow stripes. The foundation of hooked rugs is generally burlap material which the maker uses the stenciling technique to transfer the pattern into the surface. Once the design has been transferred to burlap, it would then be filled with the recycled material stripes and more recently yarn using the hooking technique. The use of special design and the brilliant colors makes this truly an artistic piece wonderful to be used as a wall art or displayed on a table. Antique Hooked Rugs are a combination of Folk Art Creativity and Simplicity. Dimensions: 29” x 42” Date of Manufacture: Early 20th Century Place of Origin: United States Material: Wool and cotton on a burlap foundation Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, some edge wear The Persian Knot, SKU: 2213 Vintage Block Pattern Rugs, Vintage Geometric Block Hooked Rugs, Geometric Hooked Rugs...
