How can I identify old furniture?

To identify old furniture, search inconspicuous areas for maker's marks. Look under seats and tabletops, inside and underneath drawers, on bases and backs and in other hidden areas. Most vintage and many antique furnishings will feature some type of marking, which you can look up using trusted online resources to determine who produced them.
