The Keeper of the Castle is an original gouache realized by Celestine Nanteuil in 1860s. Good condition included a cream colored cardboard passpartout (27x22 cm). No signature on the paper, but pencil signature on the passpartout. Célestin François Nanteuil-Lebœuf, dit Célestin Nanteuil, born 11 July 1813 in Rome (Italy) and died 6 September 1873 in Bourron-Marlotte (Seine-et-Marne), is a French painter, engraver and illustrator linked to the romantic movement.
