About the Item
The central concept of Larios painting series KHLORIS is based on the idea of the garden as a metaphorical space. Larios seeks to find a certain romantic beauty in the details of nature, in the noises that are its own, in the urban sounds that make their way into the city, that of its streets and parks and in the murmur of the architecture of its churches and cathedrals where the artificial and the natural coexist, creating a mysterious and melancholic beauty, of encounter, loss and nostalgia, an expressive silence where there is talk of revelations, of disappearing, of the passage of time, of twilight and where there is also a feeling of a state of emotional transformation.
Larios used the garden as a metaphor for the soul, a personal refuge where technology merges with concrete spaces for meditation and spirituality, where the urban merges with the natural, resulting in unique and evocative spaces. Each of the pieces is an abode of faith, of spirituality, private chambers for song and prayer, for mystical rituals and contemplation. The concept of these gardens reflects the instrumentation, the elements of form and color as "acoustic" elements, creating an exuberant atmosphere that sonically blossoms like a conceptual garden about the search for beauty and tranquility in a chaotic world. It is an exploration of faith, nature, architecture, and the memory of memory, of what is close, of distant sound that has form, of nearby noise that has color, of worn-out melodies, blurred and repetitive prayers, "sounds" inspired by the Latin Mass, birdsong, Gregorian chants, or Miles Davis "Blue in Green."
Francisco Larios is a multidisciplinary artist who works with painting, open-concept drawing, and 3D modeling software. In his series of works, postmodern influences are recognized through simplified forms, lines, and sacred geometry. Larios's work is not an uncritical citation or appropriation of the themes that interest him, but rather a poetic exploration of the state of our relationships with faith, will, and destiny. His titles often reference memorable situations or groups of people throughout history.

Francisco Larios
Francisco Larios lives and works in Monterrey, Nuevo León. He studied design and specialized in Art History by Universidad La Salle, Laguna. Larios participated at the XII Bienal “Rufino Tamayo” and Bienal FEMSA, Mexico City, Mexico; VII Bienal de Cuenca, Ecuador and was awarded the Prize for Painting Acquisition Reseña de la Plástica de Nuevo León. He is a fellow member of Sistema Nacional de Creadores FONCA. His work belongs to the public and private collection such as Museum of Contemporary Art de San Diego, California; Museum of Fine Arts de Houston, Texas; USA, Colección FEMSA, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Monterrey (MARCO), Monterrey, Mexico; Museo Rufino Tamayo, Museo Carrillo Gil and Museo de Arte Moderno, Mexico City, Mexico.

The Emanations series is an attempt to express the spiritual potential of the most essential aspect of photography: light. Each work in the series began its evolution as a scanned image of a Buddhist thangka—a spiritual painting of a Buddhist deity—which was then blurred and stretched until all that remained was a distilled image of color and form. These reduced images were then printed onto canvases, resulting in what Kane refers to as elemental “representations of the light bodies of the Buddhas.”
