About the Item

This 20" x 16" mixed media work by Oklahoma artist, Matt Goad features a complex composition of geometric and organic forms set against a warm orange-yellow background. The piece is dominated by interlocking abstract shapes rendered in a bold palette of red, black, white, and brown. In the upper portion, a large circular form with concentric rings creates an eye-like motif, with a black center surrounded by white and red bands, encased in a brown outer ring. To the right, a smaller circular element appears in red, black, and white segments. The composition flows downward through angular and curved forms that suggest fragmented architectural or figurative elements. There are triangular shapes, curved bands, and rectangular segments that overlap and intersect in a dynamic arrangement. Small circular dots in red and black punctuate various areas of the composition. Incorporated into the lower right section is a photographic collage element showing what appears to be a surgical scene, creating a striking contrast with the geometric abstraction. Additional small collage elements, including what looks like text or printed matter, are integrated into the upper left area. The overall effect is of a modernist composition that combines constructivist-inspired geometry with surrealist collage techniques, creating a visually complex dialogue between abstract form and representational imagery. Oklahoma artist Matt Goad began his art career while working as a graphic designer and illustrator in the mid 90s. Woodblock printing and its hard edged graphic aesthetic helped inform his modern style which he would take into the realm of paintings in the 2000’s. Passionate about color, composition and telling a story, his geometric approach pulls viewers through a compositional narrative. His work is easily accessible to the public and enjoyed by many, young, old, and across cultural identities. Matt’s work is included in many private and public collections around the world, and he’s been featured in numerous art and design publications, websites and documentary productions including Print, Communication Arts, PBS’s Gallery America and Voksee’s Good to Know to name a few. "Creating narratives with line, color and composition is my passion. Allowing my subconscious to direct the next story to be told is my approach. The hard edged geometry and clean lines of my work is my way of finding order in an often chaotic universe."

'Abstract #18', by Anthony Dyke, Oil Painting on Panel
Located in Oklahoma City, OK
This 11" x 14" oil on canvas painting is by Boston-based artist, Anthony Dyke. The painting is an example of geometric abstraction, composed through an arrangement of rectilinear forms, each rendered in bold, saturated color. Dominating the left side is a deep green vertical rectangle and adjacent to it is a narrow red vertical stripe, generating a visual dialogue between the broader green plane and the surrounding forms. A field of light blue occupies the top portion above. mid-composition, a horizontal mint green band stretches across the surface, and on top rests a tilted rectangular form shifting from white to warm red in a subtle gradient. To the far right, a tall blue vertical bar intersects with a fine yellow line. The base of the painting features a complex layering of darker hues: a black horizontal stripe, accompanied by stacked rectangles in red, purple, and yellow. Anthony Dyke was born in Norwich, Vermont and attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University earning a BFA and MFA in painting. As an artist and arts educator, he relocated from New York City to his downtown Oklahoma City studio, working there for two decades before returning to Boston in 2020. Coming from Vermont where the seasons are distinctly different from one another, his shift from a pastoral setting to an urban environment set up a dichotomy in the work, both visual and emotional. Tony has an extensive education in painting, photography, graphic design and figure sculpture. These mediums intersect in his work through many years of creating artworks and currently speak to his interest in abstract painting. During his senior year in the BFA Program at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, my large painting “Natole” was chosen by Frank Stella (the juror) into the highly competitive and prestigious Dana Pond...

"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel
Located in Soquel, CA
"Ab-scrap" - Abstract Geometric Composition in Acrylic on Wood Panel Dynamic abstract composition by Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971). This piece was created as a part of the "Ab-scrap" series, where Dantone uses excess paint from his sign painting business to create new compositions. Whenever there is a little extra paint on a brush, Dantone would add it to a panel, slowly creating a new composition out of the leftovers from his other work. Thus, each piece contains a wide variety of colors and brushstrokes, and the echoes of other compositions. Signed "Sam Dantone" on verso. No frame. Board size: 20.75"H x 8.75"W Sam Dantone (American, b. 1971) is an artist from Oregon who works as a sign painter, designer, and sculptor. Artist’s Statement: “Not once in my life do I know a time when I have not been an artist. My father tells that I once copied the Kleenex logo from the side of the box, at age three. I tribute my abilities to naïve confidence and other’s positive attention. As a kid, drawing was magical . . . Though my art stylings vary widely, one thread stitches all of my work together, (my art) is my critique on man’s apparent love for life and his constant destruction of it.” Exhibitions: 2015 - FoundSpace, Jackson, WY 2013 - Pacific Park Gallery, Coos Bay...
