Casey Childs
American artist Casey Childs was born in Powell, Wyoming in 1974 and is currently based in Utah. His formal studies in art began at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming where he studied under John Giarrizzo and continued at Brigham Young University where he received a bachelor’s degree in painting. After a ten-year stint as a graphic designer, Childs began training under renowned portrait painter William Whitaker, eventually becoming his apprentice. After many years of study, Childs developed a skillful body of figurative and portrait work that are now represented in fine art galleries across the U.S. Childs’ work has received international recognition and is collected both publicly and privately.
Casey Childs now paints full-time as a fine artist in his north-lit studio, which he designed after the studios of the old masters. Casey and his wife Amanda live in Utah along with their sons Evan, Owen, and Cameron. Artist Statement “My work as a whole encompasses an exploration of the human experience. My interest in the people around me comes from the idea that we look at people every day, but we never really stop to SEE them. In every painting I strive to capture the beauty, variations and complexities of the human form. The goal of my portrait work is to capture the soul of the individual–not just their likeness. I’m inspired by the figurative works (to name a few) of Sargent, Fechin, Thayer, Caravaggio and John Giarrizzo. John, my art professor at Northwest College, instilled in me a great love of art and an immense desire to create it. His work and ideas have found their way into mine. I see my work as a self-portrait in that the subjects of my paintings are all a part of me, each painting a learning experience and an exploration of myself as an artist."

A Glimpse of Beauty
By Mian Situ
Located in Pasadena, CA
Provenance
Acquired by the gallery directly from the artist.
Description
The artist portrays his wife, Gloria, in an elegant and refined setting. Her sinuous pose and assured profile project a sense of beauty and confidence. The drape of her pink silk robe hearkens back to her Chinese ancestry and its contrasting embroidered border creates a diagonal line that exudes a feeling of strength. Outside is cool and fresh, the beginning of spring; and the Glimpse of Beauty is viewed from either side of the window.

Winter Morning
Located in Pasadena, CA
Provenance

Artist Statement
“I often will go on painting trips with other artists to remote locations to do plein air sketches and gather reference for larger studio paintings. This was painted from a winter painting trip to Montana, where about ten of us gathered together at a cabin in February to paint landscapes and portraits in the snow. The morning when I saw this scene, we were all heading out into the fresh snow to go paint landscape—my artist friend was standing just outside the door of the cabin in this pose, contemplating the day ahead and looking like a painting himself! The early morning sky was white, as fresh snow was falling all around, blanketing the landscape and tree behind him. I knew this was a moment I had to capture in paint—an artist immersed in reflective thought on a winter morning.”

"Evening Light, Florence" Oil Painting
Located in Denver, CO
Daud Akhriev's (EUR and US based) "Evening Light, Florence" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a street within the terracotta lined walls of an Italian city.
Artist Biography:
The Soviet educational system singled out 8-year-old Daud Akhriev for special arts training. He painted and drew under the best painters and instructors for the next fourteen years. This culminated in a master’s degree from the Russian Academy in Leningrad (sic), after an obligatory two years in the Russian army.
Though representational in orientation, Russian Academic philosophy encourages sampling, experimenting, and referencing styles and techniques from all of art history. The Russian academic training at its best imparts an artist a wide array of abilities honed to such that technical struggle is greatly reduced, leaving more time for experimentation and creativity. Akhriev, who enthusiastically cultivated all skills and styles while at the Academy, is an artist with public works in mosaic, oil on linen, water media, cast bronze monumental sculpture and ceramics. He is comfortable working in decorative styles, designing fabrics and patterns, and is equally at ease switching into Old Master oil painting. He admires Rembrandt and Schiele, Moser and Mailloll, Velasquez, Sargent and Sorolla.
Akhriev is a Master Signature member of Oil Painters of America, the Artists Union of Russia, as well as the Association of Pastel Painters of Spain, the British Association of Modern Mosaicists, and the Society of American Mosaic Artists. He has won numerous prizes from the Salon International and International Masters Exhibitions in Texas, and at OPA regional and national exhibitions. He won Grand Prize from Pastel Magazine’s international 100 competition in 2015 and was twice honored again in 2017. Erlanger Hospital awarded Akhriev and team the creation of their non-denominational chapel which won “Ten Best Mosaic in Situ” in 2016 from the Society of American Mosaic Artists. He is an internationally renowned instructor of figurative and landscape painting and drawing. His work is published in several art books in Russian, Chinese and English. Magazines such as Fine Art Connoisseur, Pastel Journal and Artists Magazine have large features on his work.
Currently his pastel paintings are at the Ming Gallery of Pastel Painting in Suzhou, China, by invitation, and are going to be in the inaugural exhibition of the new Chinese museum pastel painting throughout history through the present day. He has served as a juror for Oil Painters of America, and he frequently teaches masterclasses in Italy.
The artist is a huge sports fan and loves film and travel. He speaks Russian, Ingush, English, basic Spanish, and can communicate using hand gestures in any other language. His extracurricular passion is teaching young artists. He resides in Tennessee and Andalusia, Spain with his artist wife, Melissa Hefferlin.
