Weeping Willow ''Sauce llorón''

A constellation of blues at the center organizes the space and hints at the willow’s falling foliage, while surrounding reds, ochres, and yellows bring warmth and visual depth through short, overlapping layers of paint. The dense application of oil creates relief and motion, evoking water reflections and the tree’s characteristic downward rhythm, whose historical symbolism spans grief and resilience. The result is a liminal landscape—more felt than described—where chromatic matter guides the gaze from surface vibration toward a suggestive interior.

About the Artist
Celia Herranz (Celia Herr) was born in Segovia, Spain.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts with a postgraduate focus in Advertising Drawing. With more than twenty years of experience, she combines her artistic career with teaching drawing and painting to children and adults in academies, schools, and private lessons.
Her most recent solo exhibition at the Palacio Quintanar in Segovia (November 29, 2024 – February 23, 2025) presented three strands of her practice:
Heavily textured oil paintings,
Black-and-white ink washes on paper, which she calls “skeletons of memory”,
Sculptures made from recycled glass, transforming everyday objects into totemic forms that balance fragility with interior weight.
Her work is defined by deep colors, expressive brushwork, and the transformation of observed reality into sculpted painting.
