About the Item
Our Mysteries is a diptych in oil on linen, where symbolism and texture come together to evoke deep emotions. With its panoramic dimensions of 200x81 cm, this work unfolds across two canvases in a poetic dialogue: on the left, female legs; on the right, male legs. Both reach towards the center, towards a sphere printed with a labyrinth, evoking the eternal enigma of existence. The background, with shades of red that darken towards the edges, intensifies the mysterious atmosphere of the composition. Within deformed, dark rectangles, anatomical illustrations of legs suggest the fragility of the human body. A segmented fish breaks the surface of the painting, alluding to our aquatic origins. The sphere symbolizes our planet and the complexity of life, the labyrinth hinting at the journey we undertake each day. Here, light and texture play a crucial role, creating a dreamlike environment that invites reflection on the mysteries of life and our own identity.

Born in Madrid, Spain, he pursued Interior Design studies but his aptitude for painting led him to focus on this art form. In 1986, he joined the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, where he spent several years drawing and painting figures from life. In 1989, he became a copyist of Art Works at the National Prado Museum in Madrid, a role he continued for several more years. He took painting courses with Daniel Quintero and Eduardo Úrculo, and engraving courses at the National Mint of Madrid with José Hernández, Daniel Gil, Paco Mora, and Luis Cabrera. He has held solo and group exhibitions in various national and international galleries. He has been selected for numerous national competitions and has won several awards, including the 2nd Prize at the Caballeros de Yuste, finalist in the VIII Laura Otero, Honorary Medal at Sotillo de la Adrada, 5th Prize at the XVIII Antequera in Málaga, Honorary Medal at the XXII López-Villaseñor, XLII Antonio López Painting and Drawing Competition in Tomelloso, Ciudad Real, and First Prize in Small Format Painting at AGORA96 in Cádiz. He was a finalist in the Ynglada-Guillot Foundation Drawing Competition in Barcelona. His most recent selections include Daimiel and Virgen de las Viñas 2022, Laura Otero (finalist), and Valdepeñas 2023. In 2018, he was selected to exhibit at the Art Revolution Taipei International Art Fair and at the X-Power Gallery in Taipei.
