Christian Marche
1935-2008
Marche was a prolific French artist best known for being one of the most significant pinball machine illustrators of the 1960s and 1970s.
He illustrated the back glasses for over 150 pinball machines for major companies like Williams, Bally, and Chicago Coin, making him the among the most prolific pinball artist of his time.
After military service in Algeria, he moved to Chicago in 1964 and worked for the agency Advertising Posters. He cherished the creative freedom of this job.
His first pinball artwork was for Williams' "Casanova" (1966) and his last was for "Tri Zone" (1979).
He also designed artwork for other arcade games like shooting galleries and bowling games.
He returned to France in the late 1970s and focused on cubist painting, winning a first-prize award in Aix-en-Provence in the 1990s.
For the rest of his life he concentrated of his, painting in the Cubist style.
He pained exterior scenes of his region, nudes, and many still life paintings.
He exhibited regionally and in Paris galleries.
