Randall Berndt grew up on a farm near Markesan, Wisconsin, and holds an M.F.A. degree in painting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work has been exhibited in many museum and gallery shows, both juried and invitational. These include, in recent years, the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio (where he received the Juror's Choice Award), the Sioux City Art Center in Sioux City, Iowa, the Grace Chosy Gallery in Madison, and Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek. He is the recipient of a 1996 Wisconsin Arts Board Fellowship Award and the 1997 Mayor's Purchase Award from the Madison CitiARTS Commission. Berndt is director of the Wisconsin Academy Gallery, where he has curated two special exhibitions: "Maps of Encounter: The French in Seventeenth-Century Wisconsin" (1995) and "Rebirth of the Prairie: Aldo Leopold and Ecological Restoration" (1999).
Though mainly an urban dweller now, Randall has a continuing connection with the family farm in the rolling woodlands and fields of southwestern Green Lake County. There he gardens, plants prairies, and wanders with his three-year-old son amongst the pine trees that his father planted. Childhood ramblings in those woods and fields formed an attachment to nature and a feeling for her mysteries that continue to surface in his paintings. Later travels to European art centers have added cultural layers and other kinds of mysteries to the images he creates

Stella Atal (Ugandan, active Paris, b. 1983) is a painter and fashion designer, and is the founder, owner and chief executive of Atal Stella Fashion House, with locations in Paris, France. She was born in the Northern Region of Uganda, along the northern shores of Lake Kyoga. Stella started her schooling in Kampala, Uganda's capital and largest city. She relocated to Kenya and continued her education there. Later, she completed her education in the United Kingdom. She has a bachelors and a master's degree in Fine Art.
She comfortably paints both miniature and large wall hangings using acrylics and water- based textile paints, she uses materials such as bark cloth, recycled paper made out of water hyacinth, Hessian, canvas and many other tradition materials. Her unique art pieces are inspired by ancient and contemporary African designs. They depict typical village scenes of life around Lake Victoria.
'Painting is the only way I can get back to my roots by using our cultural materials such as bark cloth that was used by our ancestors and helps me preserve my culture through some of the motifs I use that were used long ago as signs of belief and worship in the African culture.'
Her distinctive artwork is well known in Uganda and throughout East Africa. Her bold, fluid lines explore complex subjects such as women empowerment and national development with economy and grace. Her central artistic preoccupation is the continuation of distinctively African culture.
In 2007, she started her own label, Atal Stella. There she focuses on using what is locally available, including eco-friendly, natural and re-cycled material. Her designs have showcased at the Africa Fashion Week New York, in 2010 and at the Green Fashion...

"Ribbon" Extra-Large Contemporary Landscape Painting By American Martin Hoffman
By Martin Hoffman
Located in Frederiksberg C, DK
Introducing "Ribbon," an extraordinary painting from the "Jersey Meadow Series" by Martin Hoffman in the 1970s. From the 1970s onwards, Hoffman's career showcased a masterful combination of beautiful painting techniques and challenging subject matter. This contemporary painting depicts an abandoned landscape with a hypnotic blue plastic ribbon at its center. Hoffman's landscape creates an almost mesmerizing effect, where the subject matter of destruction and decay is presented poetically. The warm shades of grey with hints of blue, brown, and purple create a limited yet powerful palette that enhances the melancholic beauty of the painting.
The painting measures 151cm x 202cm / 59.5in x 79.5in and is signed 'Martin Hoffman' on the reverse side of the canvas. It is titled 'Ribbon' and is dated '73.' Additionally, the artist specifies that the painting is part of the 'Jersey Meadow Series.' It is ready to hang and comes with a silver-painted frame. The condition of the painting is great, with hardly any signs of wear. The frame has a few scratches but is otherwise in good condition.
