About the Item
This black and white photograph, taken in 1962 at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, located on the Utah-Arizona border, captures a moment of solitude and contemplation. The image features an individual standing on the crest of a sand dune, looking up at the vast, open sky. A trail of deep footprints in the rippled sand leads from the foreground to the solitary figure, creating a striking visual path.
The texture of the wind-sculpted dunes, combined with the contrast between light and shadow, gives the scene a timeless and surreal quality. The empty space in the sky and the barren landscape emphasize a sense of isolation, introspection, and vastness.
Andres, born in 1905 in Germany, began his photography career in 1920 and was one of the pioneers to use a Leica camera. His work is featured in several prestigious museums, including the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. Andres was also a contributor to Edward Steichen's landmark exhibition "The Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1951.
The print is new, a Fine Art Print on Illford Black and White Paper quality paper made by Whitewall. It comes to you in a tube.
