About the Item

30 x 45 inches ($5200) and 40 x 60 inches ($7200) limited editions of 10, printed on Archival Watercolor Fine Art Paper, 335 gram weight, signed by the artist. Cheryl Maeder was born in Elmwood Park, New Jersey and in her early 20s moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where she studied photography at the Zurich University of the Arts. After eight years in Switzerland, Maeder returned to United States and opened her successful photography studio in San Francisco, where she photographed international advertising and fashion campaigns. Cheryl Maeder transitioned from photographing fashion models to photographing real women. She wanted to celebrate the beauty of women in all shapes and sizes. Her photography work became the inspiration for the global Dove Campaign on Real Women, Real Beauty which transformed the way women are perceived in the media. In 2005, she relocated her studio to the Miami area and deeply immersed herself into fine art photography and filmmaking. Maeder’s explorations with her camera uncovered her passion for Abstractionism and Impressionism in both her photography and her video installations. “Each of Maeder’s images elegantly transform into paintings. Coming Back - underwater photograph - archival pigment print 23x17"
By Alex Sher
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
"Coming Back" captures a transformative moment in contemporary underwater fine art photography, where classical composition meets avant-garde expression. A figure in crimson emerges through a veil of ascending bubbles, creating a dynamic interplay between motion and stillness. The deep cerulean backdrop contrasts dramatically with the red fabric, while suspended air bubbles catch light like countless stars, evoking a celestial aesthetic. This fine art photograph explores themes of emergence and rebirth, characteristic of modern submersible portraiture. The technical mastery of underwater lighting and movement choreography elevates this piece to a meditation on human resilience and ascension. This photograph is a part of the series "Blue Fall...

The Turn - underwater photograph - archival pigment print 18x24"
By Alex Sher
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
"The Turn" represents a pivotal moment in contemporary underwater fine art photography, where sculptural form meets fluid dynamics. In this arresting composition, a figure in vibrant crimson appears suspended between sitting and floating, enveloped by an explosive array of crystalline bubbles against a deep azure backdrop. The photograph masterfully captures the intersection of intentional pose and aquatic spontaneity, while the interplay of light through the ascending bubbles creates an ethereal atmosphere. This innovative piece transcends traditional portraiture, exploring themes of weightlessness and transformation that characterize modern submersible art, while the technical precision in capturing split-second motion elevates it to a meditation on human buoyancy. This photograph is a part of the series "Blue Fall...
