"Finest Hope" is an original color lithograph by Michael Knigin. The artist signed the piece in the lower right and wrote the edition number, 182/300, in the lower left with graphite. This piece depicts a colorful parrot in the midst of orange petals.

Artist Bio:
Michael Knigin was born in 1942 in Brooklyn, New York. He studied lithography at the Tamarind Lithography workshop in Los Angeles. He started teaching at the Pratt Graphic Center and started a fine art lithography workshop and his own publishing company. This company printed and published works for influential contemporary artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Paul Jenkins. In 1970 and 1971 he co-authored two books on lithography, which were published by Van Nostrand/Reinhold. One of these books was a textbook on fine art lithography and was used extensively in schools in the United States and Britain. After selling Chiron Press in 1974, Knigin was invited by the Israel Museum and the Jerusalem Foundation to establish the first professional lithography workshop in Israel and to train a group of young Israeli artists.
Later, Knigin was appointed a Professor at Pratt Institute, where he still teaches. In 1988 he was appointed to the NASA Art Team and was sent to the Kennedy Space Center to visually interpret the launch of the space shuttle Discovery, celebrating NASA's return to space after the Challenger's disaster in 1986. In 1991 he was recalled to interpret the touchdown of the space shuttle Atlantis at Edward's Air Force Base. Along with these honors, he has received many awards including Cleo Award for art direction, a fellowship of the American Film Institute in Los Angeles, an Art and Technology Grant, two Certificates of Merit from the National Society of Illustrators
Michael's work is included in over 60 museums and corporate collections, including the Whitney American Museum of Art, Albright-Knox, The Cooper Hewitt Museum, among many others. His contributions to Israel and The United States are well respected by artists, educators, and collectors alike. Knigin passed away in 2011.

Michael Knigin
Michael Knigin, painter, printmaker, muralist, photographer, and teacher, was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 9, 1942. He received his BFA in 1966 from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia. In 1964 he was awarded a Ford Foundation Grant, which enabled him to study printmaking at the Tamarind Lithography Workshop and collaborate with Rufino Tamayo. Knigin was a full professor at the Pratt Graphic Center in Manhattan between 1967 and 2003. From 1968 through 1972, he also co-owned and directed the Chiron Press where he worked with Andy Warhol, Louise Nevelson, Kenneth Noland, Larry Poons, and Tom Wesselman. In 1974, he served as Art and Technical Director of the Burston Graphics Art Centre in Jerusalem. In 1988, Knigin was appointed to the NASA Art Team and was sent to the Kennedy Space Center to visually interpret the launch of the space shuttle Discovery. In 1991, Nasa recalled him to interpret the touchdown of the space shuttle Atlantis. Knigin's works were exhibited widely and are in numerous permanent collections including the Albright-Knox Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Carnegie Mellon Institute, Cooper Hewitt Museum, Library of Congress, McNay Museum, Mexico City Museum of Modern Art, Portland Museum of Art, Smithsonian Museum of American Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Worchester Museum of Art. With Murray Zimiles, Knigin co-authored The Technique of Fine Art Lithography in 1969, and Contemporary Lithographic Workshops around the World in 1974. Michael J. Knigin died on January 19, 2011.

Kate Garner first came widely into the public eye as one-third of the 1980s avant-garde, new wave pop project Haysi Fantayzee, along with other members Jeremy Healy and Paul Caplin. Emanating from street art scenes such as the Blitz Kids that were cropping up in London in the early 1980s, Haysi’s music combined reggae, country, and electro with political and sociological lyrics couched as nursery rhymes.
Catapulted to stardom by their visual sensibilities, Haysi Fantayzee combined their extreme clothes sense – described as combining white Rasta, tribal chieftain, and Dickensian styles – with a quirky musical sound comparable to other new wave musical pop acts of the era, such as Bow Wow Wow...
