Richard Haas View of the Mall From a Castle Tower, 1983 Seven-Color Lithograph: Hand Drawn on English Somerset Satin 100% rag paper 14 1/4 × 43 3/4 inches Edition of 7 (Hors Commerce) Signed, titled and numbered HC VII in pencil on the front Unframed View of the Mall From a Castle Tower (from Washington Monument to Capitol) Limited Edition Fine Art Original Lithograph by Richard Haas Commissioned by the Smithsonian in 1983, This work depicts the magnificent sweep of the Mall from the Washington Monument to the Capitol, and includes all the Smithsonian Museums. It would make a wonderful gift to anyone from, moving to, or living in Washington, D.C. This is a seven-color lithograph, hand drawn and signed by the artist. It is an hors commerce work -- one of only seven -- aside from the regular numbered edition of only 100 prints, printed on English Somerset Satin 100% rag paper. Image Dimensions: 14 ¼ x 42 ¾ inches Paper Dimensions: 18 x 46 inches. Richard Haas (b. 1936, Spring Green, Wisconsin) is one of the world's leading architectural muralists, and is best known for his trompe l'oeil paintings. He has created numerous "make-believe" buildings, including an entire streetscape at Manhattan's South Street Seaport, 13 murals of New York publishing houses for the New York Public Library, Smithsonian Institution exteriors on an interior wall, and an entire exterior façade of the Boston Architectural Center. His paintings are in collections of the Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum, the Whitney Museum, the Yale University Art Gallery, and the Fogg Art Museum. He has exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum, the Whitney Museum, and others.
