About the Item

This art is a one of a kind print on canvas with archival ink, it is completely flat but has the characteristics of Ceravolo's 3 dimensional look. It was the study for a large canvas of Chuck Close that was comprised of actual three dimensional elements. This unique one of a kind print has the depth that a Ceravolo canvas in known for while being completely flat. It is framed under plexiglass and measures 47x38" When Ceravolo met Chuck Close for the first time in 2008 he told Chuck that Chuck had indirectly feed his (Ceravolo's) family for the past 25 years because he (Ceravolo) started to paint large scale portraits after seeing Chucks portrait of Phillip Glass. Chuck like that and invited Ceravolo back to his studio in Bridgehampton where the two of them discussed Ceravolo creating a portrait of Chuck in Ceravolo's style using 3D abstract shapes over the portrait. Ceravolo photographed Mr. Close and that is how this study for "Chuck Close portrait in 3D" came about. Ceravolo has also painted and photographed other Hampton artists Roy Lichtenstein and Larry Rivers. Ceravolo's Large scale paintings have received international acclaim for more three decades. His art, came to popular attention when he was commissioned to create six large scale oil on canvas portraits for the lobby of The Palladium Theatre in New York City. of Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Frank Zappa, Neil Young and Hall and Oates, In addition to those, his paintings are in many influential corporate and private collections, including: ELTON JOHN, ROD STEWART, HUGH M.
