Dainis Rozkalns (1928 - 2018)
Artist, graphic artist, illustrator of folklore and fiction publications. The main directions of Rožkalns' professional activity are book graphics and bookmarks (ex libris), printmaking techniques - woodcarving, linocut, ink drawing, etc. The creative biography of the artist includes more than 300 exhibitions in Latvia and abroad, illustrated more than 60 books, made about 200 bookmarks. The themes of Rožkalns' works revolve around Latvian nature and the aesthetics of a farmer's life. Received medals in graphic art competitions in Paris (1962), Vilnius (1977, 1987).

Haworthia Fasciata is a limited edition still life print by Kerry Day. Reduction linocuts are printed from one piece of lino, cutting it again for each new colour in the design. All the prints for an edition have to be printed before moving on to the next colour, because once the lino is re-cut you can’t make any more. Depending on how many colours are use, at the end there may be very little of the lino block left uncut.
Recently I find myself moving on from people to plants. Inspiration has come from the many cacti and plants I share my home and studio with – the strong profiles of my spiky friends and the marvellously named Elephant Ear plant...
