ERODED DELOREAN is an edition based on Arsham’s 2018 lifescale sculpture of the 1981 DMC DELOREAN sports car. Featured in the cult-classic, Back to the Future film trilogy, this car’s fantastical history melds with the eroded nature of the Future Relic Series. With gull-wing doors that open, the ERODED DELOREAN can be displayed with the doors open or closed. Each edition is 31 cm in length and weighs 2.8 kg. ERODED DELOREAN comes in Arsham studio designed housing with die-cut foam, sealing label, and a pair of white art handling gloves. This is an edition of 500 pieces, and each ERODED DELOREAN includes an Arsham Editions holographic label verifying its edition number and authenticity.
About Artist:
Daniel Arsham employs elements of architecture, performance, and sculpture to manipulate and distort understandings of structures and space. Arsham became widely known at the age of 25 when he was asked to design his first of several sets for Merce Cunningham’s productions. His practice has been guided by a curiosity for architecture and structured space, stemming from childhood memories of seeing the wreckage of Hurricane Andrew in his hometown of Miami. Some of his best-known works include a series of installations that destabilize the solidity of gallery walls, such that they appear to be dripping, folding, oozing, or absorbing furniture; also figuring among his oeuvre are pixelated clouds based on photographs and rendered with hand-colored spheres, and sculptures made from granulated materials like crushed glass. He is also active as one half of the art and architecture collaborative Snarkitecture, along with Alex Mustonen.

Daniel Arsham
Daniel Arsham lives and works in New York. Arsham has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Moco Museum, Amsterdam; the How Museum, Shanghai; High Museum of Art, Atlanta, GA and the Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati, OH. His works are included in the permanent collections of the Pérez Art Museum, Miami, FL; the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, MN and the Centre Pompidou, Paris. His artistic practice includes several high profile collaborations with choreographer Merce Cunningham, Producer Pharrell Williams and Designer Hedi Slimane and companies such as Dior and Rimowa. Arsham is the co-founder of Snarkitecture, a New York-based collaborative design practice established in 2007 to investigate the boundaries between disciplines of art, architecture and design. A component of Arsham’s iconic and immediately recognizable practice is the conception of his works as fossilized “future” relics that distort the viewer’s perception of space and time.
