Edouard Merzouk presents his Fossil Sculptures. His artistic vision of the collapse.
Fossilized objects of Luxury or everyday life objects , they have marked generations of our society, from hyper-consumerism and disposables, to its paroxysm.
These fossils are a trace of this materialist civilization, where the object has acquired a sacred dimension, where image and appearance have become its only essences.
The material used is the Stone of Saint Leu.
During the reign of Louis XIV, when classical architecture arrived, the Stone of Saint Leu was used in the construction of the most beautiful monuments of Paris and its region.

The stone of Saint Leu is extracted in open-air quarries in the Oise. It is a limestone from the Paris region.
About the ARTIST :
Edouard Merzouk
French painter and plastician, living in the South of France. Born in 1978, he only decided to come out in the art world by 2007. Since then, his artworks are presented in several personal and collective exhibitions in France but also all around the world : New York, Miami, Paris, London, Deauville, Saint Tropez, Marseille.
Close to street art, and influenced by many, of which Robert Rauschenberg, Edouard Merzouk’s pratique is mostly influenced by the pop art and punk culture of the 80s and 90s.
