This limited edition cast porcelain sculpture by Thomas Broadbent represents a near Earth Asteroid and
Broadbent’s asteroid and moon series explores unseen primordial objects
which lay beyond vision by the naked eye. Broadbent’s watercolors
and sculptures depict these objects through data collected by outer space
probes. These celestial bodies represent a reality of existence that directly affect our own, as some are threatening others are benign. This ceramic sculpture depicts Near Earth Asteroid, which could potentially impact the Earth.
Thomas Broadbent has shown extensively throughout the U.S. as well as internationally. Broadbent’s numerous solo exhibitions include the Visual Art’s Center of New Jersey, Croxhapox Gallery (Gent, Belgium) Inspace gallery (Beijing, China) and the Newark Arts Council. Broadbent’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The New Jersey Star-Ledger, NY Arts, The Brooklyn Rail and numerous other publications.
Thomas Broadbent was awarded the New York PULSE PRIZE in which this work was included for the award for best solo presentation.

Thomas Broadbent
Thomas Broadbent is well known for his contemporary naturalistic depictions of the intersection of nature and man. Thomas Broadbent has shown extensively throughout the U.S. as well as internationally. Broadbent’s work won the PULSE Prize for best solo booth at PULSE Art Fair. His work was subsequently featured in “Mission to Space” at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. His work is in the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wildlife Art. Broadbent’s numerous solo exhibitions include the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Croxhapox Art Gallery in Gent, Belgium, The Voorkamer Gallery in Lier, Belgium, Inspace gallery in Beijing, China and the Newark Arts Council. Broadbent’s work has been reviewed in The New York Times, The Star-Ledger, New Jersey, NY Arts Magazine, The Brooklyn Rail and numerous other publications.

For Melissa Pokorny, found objects constitute the starting point for elaborate sculptures that have explored gender roles, the public and private spheres, and the nature/culture divide. More recently, her work engages the connection between “things” as potent containers of memory, capably representing loss and estrangement, and the deeply haunted landscape of the everyday. Unremarkable objects become activated and heightened as they are positioned within larger tableau. The compulsion to collect, the status of marginal objects and things, and speculative connections result in fractured narratives that address these occulted objects, the allure of magical thinking and the collapse of the boundaries between the animate and inanimate.
Pokorny has been an exhibiting artist for over twenty years. Her large scale, assemblage-based sculptural works have been widely exhibited at venues across the US. Recent solo shows at Platform Gallery in Seattle and Front Room Gallery in New York augment a long career of solo exhibitions, beginning with Gallery Paule Anglim, in San Francisco and continuing with Bodybuilder and Sportsman in Chicago. Melissa Pokorny's work focuses on the sense of space, and its role in structuring memory and identity.
