Product Description: This cube takes 2 months longer to prepare than a normal cube due to the highly skilled processes that are entailed with the addition of more sides. Not only is the core bigger than the average glass cubes that Jon Kuhn produces, the shape is much more advanced to produce than 6 sided objects.
Jon Kuhn's specialty is working with his, "Highly Reflective Material" dubbed "HRM" by Kuhn, which are panels of optical glass with a reflective coating applied on the outside. Similar to what is commonly seen in high-end sunglass lenses. The result is a much more brilliant and scintillating material with very dense saturated core of sparkles!
Artist Information: Kuhn created his first cube with a complex and colorful pattern encased in its core in 1987; A whole new concept of visual art the likes of which the world has never seen before. The fragments of different-colored core materials, started out as various types of sheets that are then thoughtfully layered, aligned, cut through, ground, polished, and adhered countless times, to shape an intricate yet vibrant sculpture that contains a mythical pattern with seemingly endless depth. Each sculpture captures, reflects and refracts ambient light, then projecting it back onto the surface to completely occupy and dominate the surrounding space with intense energy, mesmerizing the viewers and commanding the attention of the entire premise with its glowing presence.

Victor Vasarely (French/Hungarian, 1906–1997) is known as the father of the Op Art movement. As a painter, he created intricate abstractions that suggested depth and dimensionality using a variety of optical illusions, with surfaces seeming to bulge out of the canvas. His works present color, form, and pattern as a single interconnected element—a concept that was critical to the foundation of the Op Art movement and the focus of his mature works.
Vasarely initially studied medicine at the Budapest University in his early 20s, only to abandon his medical studies to attend to the Muhely Academy, the center of the Bauhaus movement in Budapest. While there, he was profoundly influenced by the work of color theorist and artist Josef Albers, as well as the Constructivist methods promoted by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky. While Vasarely’s earlier work was concerned more with color theory, during the 1950s and 1960s his work became more focused on the optical potential of the two-dimensional surface. He began to use complex and colorful patterns to actively engage the viewer’s eye, and to convey a sense of kinetic energy across the two-dimensional surface.
Vasarely’s work was heavily influenced by his time spent at Breton Beach of Belle Isle...
