John Lowrie Morrison (JoLoMo) Abstract Paintings

British, b. 1948
John Lowrie Morrison, OBE known as JoLoMo, is a contemporary Scottish artist best known for his expressionist acrylic paintings of western Scotland landscapes and traditional stone crofts. Born in Glasgow in 1948, JOLOMO studied at the Glasgow School of Art, later traveling to France and then Switzerland where he studied painting with key color, particularly studying the color blue. Blue became a key color is many of his paintings. He was an art educator for many years, but after success in solo exhibitions in London, he devoted full time to painting. In the early 2000's he began donating a portion of his work to charities, then dedicated up to 20 original paintings a year to help raise funds for good causes. He earned the OBE, Order of the British Empire award from the Queen for his work and his charitable donations. His art is defined as expressionist, working in acrylic colors, with rich deep blues as the key color followed by contrasting oranges, reds, golden yellows and russets. These bright colors surround the white painted stone crofts with red roofs. He is a beloved artist, painting the Uists and other rural locations often under represented in art. His work as an educator, his love of rural Scotland, and his charitable giving has endeared him to the Scottish people and others that come to know the man and his work. JOLOMO paintings have wide appeal, with key color, portraying Scottish landscapes with robust expressionism. OBE - JOLOMO - one of Scotland's most successful and best loved contemporary Artists: painter for over 50 years of Argyll and The Hebrides, lighthouses, coastscapes, croftscapes, the people and light of the Scottish west coast.

Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XV , Abstract Expressionist Landscape
Located in Doylestown, PA
"Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind XV " is a 40 x 40 inches, original, abstract landscape by American master colorist painter Al Lachman. The artwork is a gallery wrapped canvas, signed "Lachman" in the lower left. It is part of the artist's series "Landscapes of the Soul and of the Mind". The artist puts his thumb upon the pulse of life and records it. In that mystical beat lies the unknown, and he would but make it known. Being both, innovator and spectator, he exists as an intrinsic part of that rhythm. Each painting begins with a premise, and I rarely use the same one twice. It is based on what I see and what I am feeling at that moment. I do not think that painting is about technique. It is about a particular perception of the world around us. The premise creates the periphery of my intent. It is a limitation that gives birth to the creative forces within. - Al Lachman Born in 1936 in the Bronx, NY, Alan Lachman...
