About the Item

A fine English Georgian Gothic style tall case clock, its bonnet with a swan’s neck broken arch pediment with Battersea enamel oval polychrome urn accents surmounting scrolled fabric lined fretwork, flanked by two decorative carved finials, over a tombstone form chased metal clock face with moon phase dial, Roman numerals, and small seconds dial, accented with foliate gilded spandrels with faces. The case is decorated with pinwheel paterae, figured mahogany veneer on the Gothic arch waist door, opening to two weights and pendulum bob, flanked by triple corner columns on a bracket base. Includes a waist door key. The clock dates to the late 18th or early 19th century, but has a later 19th century brass movement in good working order, with minor case restorations and repairs, veneer shrinkage cracks, minor losses, and wear commensurate with age and use.     Repaired: Minor case molding repairs and restorations. The 19th century married movement has been cleaned and is in working order. A beautiful clock. Refinished. Replacements made: The movement is a 19th century replacement to the clock. It fits and looks fantastic. The only person that would know is a clock guru (such as ours) that went through the clock and made sure it was in good working order. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Minor structural damages. Minor fading. Good working order, with minor case restorations and repairs, veneer shrinkage cracks, minor losses, and wear commensurate with age and use. There is evidence of minimal insect damage.
