Amazing Art Deco Egyptian French Mantel clock by the electric clock manufacturer ATO of Besançon, France. Emerald Onix from Brasil over black Belgian marble body with square chromed bezel and highly stylized face. Stunning combinationof green and black colors Battery Operated París.. Founded in 1920 by Léon Hatot, ATO was the first known clock manufacturer to experiment with different operating methods and unusual materials. A very refined and unique 1930s art deco clock of Belgian black marble and Brazilian green onyx. The face of the clock has the usual ATO silvered spiders web patterning and art deco numerals. This is an early battery operated clock for which Leon Hatot (ATO) París was famous. Founded in 1920 by Léon Hatot, ATO was the first known clock manufacturer to experiment with different operating methods and unusual materials. Collaborating with the likes of Marius Lavet and René Lalique, Hatot's clock creations were the most imaginative, fashionable and advanced of the era. It measures 15 inches (38cm) wide, 17.5 inches (44.5cm) high and 6 inches (15cm) deep. Condition is very good with just a small piece of glued onyx barely visible as a whole and very small chip of black marble in one corner. Solid marble and onyx and hence quite heavy.
