French wall pendulum "cartel d'alcove" Louis XVI case attributed Osmond

About the Item

CARTEL D'ALCOVE MODEL CLOCK Case attributable to the great bronzesmith Robert Osmond (maitre-fondeur on January 17, 1745) in gilded and chiseled bronze with applied bronzes representing garlands, pine cones, scrolls and an urn on top. White enamel dial with black enamel Roman numerals for hours, 5-in-5 Arabic numerals in black enamel for minutes, and dotted band. Louis XV style gilded bronze hands. Movement with anchor escapement and silk wire pendulum suspension, "on demand" repetition of hours and quarter hours on bells. Signed on dial and movement "Michel à Paris." Period and provenance: circa 1770/80, Paris-France. Dimensions: height 46 cm. Width 22 cm. Depth 10 cm.
