Arne Jacobsen (1902–1971) was a Danish architect and designer, known as a pioneer of Danish modernism. He was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and made his breakthrough with functionalist buildings such as Bellavista and Aarhus City Hall. Jacobsen was also a master of total design, creating both buildings and furniture, including iconic chairs like The Egg, The Swan, The Ant, and Series 7. His work has had a major influence on both Danish and international design.
