About the Item

A stunning French 19th century Louis XIV st. tortoiseshell, brass and ormolu Cartel Clock signed F.Lesage Paris. The beautiful clock is raised on its original support shelf centered by a richly chased ormolu foliate final below a brass inlaid foliate design. Finely etched foliate ormolu movements lead up the sides with fine corner mounts at the mottled ormolu border. The beautifully curvaceous clock displays scrolled ormolu feet which center a brass inlaid design and the central door with its original glass pane and a striking pierced foliate ormolu mount. Inside is the striking ormolu clock face with fine scrolled movements, a hammered design and enameled Roman numerals. An enameled blue plaque, fitted within a lattice and foliate ormolu mount, displays the signature. At each side are display windows with their original glass framed within an ormolu band. At the top is a fine pierced urn with wonderful detail. All our clocks have been professionally inspected by our master clockmaker to ensure their functionality.

A very fine late 19th century French Belle Epoque mounted bronze Dòre flame mahogany Cartel wall clock. The clock features a circular white enamel dial, which is inscribed with both Roman Numerals and Arabic Numbers. beautifully incised gilt hands and convex glass inscribed "Planchon A Paris".
